I agree, but letting a murderer murder someone then get out of jail for it doesn't make sense, cause then he's going to go murder more people because he just got the taste for it back after being imprisoned for it.

Explain please?

But they would pit murderers against murderers, and they wouldn't really get out of jail. I mean, gladiators back then were locked up until a fight, then locked up again. But I believe there would have to be some balancing to it, like the worst against the worst...

Well, assuming it would be similar to Rome and Greece times, and if what you say is accurate, then it would give them more time to enjoy living, and they would be rewarded for continuing to survive. But what message would that say about ourselves? We force criminals to fight against each other just for them to hope they live a little longer and get treated like heroes for killing others? That type of system in anyway at all wouldn't be supported in this day and age, and the UN would certainly not condone us suddenly glorifying them as heroes for killing each other just to extend their sentences.

I don't think they were considered heroes, more like a modern day professional athlete, but yeah, modern society thinks of it as too cruel...
-
Well a lot of people these days look up to Professional Athletes as Idols or Heroes so not much difference there. But what they did, while entertaining because cruelty is at the heart of all humanity, would not be something that could get passed through as acceptable.
