Anyone think that this is a possibility seeing as how they just went back on the old policies? I would like this as it could bring the price of the XB1 down, yet on the other hand I'm interested in what the Kinect can bring to games. What do y'all think?

1 ReplyEdited by Obsric: 6/20/2013 1:45:52 AMI think they've invested too much into the Kinect to remove it and it's presence for the entertainment options of the console hasn't changed. This differentiates the xBoxOne from the PS4 - which is a good thing; having a 'clear' winner either way is never any good for a market. The PS4 is cheaper, the xBoxOne costs $100 more but offers more services. You get to decide if it's worth the $100 difference or not. Brilliant.

2 RepliesI highly doubt that they'll make a Kinect-less Xbox One. But it would be cool if they can have it built-in to the Xbox. That way there is no chance of it becoming disconnected or broken, rendering the entire Xbox useless.

Maybe they could make a new version of the XB1, but as it stands the console can't function without Kinect 2.0 connected.

1 ReplyI'm willing to bet we see a special core edition in the coming months sans Kinect.

2 RepliesNo, it is built into the system.

1 ReplyI'm gonna go ahead and say there's a 95% chance that they will not. MS wants more developers to make use of the kinect's features, and if they don't make it mandatory then developers won't add features for only a small percentage of people who have it. It doesn't have to be you dancing in front of the Kinect, did you see Project Spark? Also Dead Rising 3 is making use of it simply by monitoring the noise level in the room, if you're too loud then the zombies will actually hear you.

11 RepliesEdited by Lightning Yuna: 6/20/2013 12:37:40 AMI think that there is a chance but MS is not likely to take it. They seem dead set on pushing their godamn kinect since freaking what? 2010? They want a kinect on every home to spy on you! But seriously, just get used to the kinect I guess. Maybe down the road kinect will do something cool that you might like. Damnit I was obviously kidding with the spying. Just read the very next words after the spying thing!

1 ReplyEdited by nao: 6/20/2013 12:32:30 AMI suspect when the cheaper PS4 continues to sell more they'll either drop Kinect, the price, or both to stay competitive. I'd be surprised to see it happen this year though. There's only so much they can concede at once.

2 RepliesNo they want it to be a useful innovator but it cant be that way unless everyone has it. It will be a huge expense with no revenue if it is not adopted by the masses. If people dont buy it developers dont make games for it and its just a useless piece of crap. Now developers can create games for the kinect since everyone will have one.
