I remember somebody on yet another discussion topic mentioned a few questions I'd like to see you answer:
1) Hacking/mod prevention
2) Servers set-up and availability (who's fronting the money for that?)
There were others, but because there are so many of these topics, I forgot.

1) Well that is a fair point, that would surely cost some resources. I don't like Mod prevention though. Mods are good for everyone involved. 2) I think connections are peer to peer anyway so it shouldn't 8e a 8ig pro8lem. I don't think dedicated servers will 8e a thing. I should look around for those topics.

Edited by Birdman: 6/15/2013 5:10:27 AMMods are good for the PC community. Considering the point is to include said community, it would be unfair to console users who don't have access to these mods, thereby leaving them out. It would be a reversal without any way to balance the two. If there are public events that would involve a large amount of people, would that still be considered peer to peer? Private I can somewhat grasp, but not by much.

Edited by Scienta: 6/15/2013 5:15:35 AMYea wasn't thinking much there. Well that is a difficult issue isn't it. The PS and X8ox guys are paying for he servers and the PC isn't really, and they are not going to stick su8s on it, so? Unfair? Well I dou8t that is reason enough to disallow it. It's more along the lines of "we could sell retextures and remodels" or " moding could 8reak the game" also "Mod tools take time and money to develop" that is the real kicker.
-
Right, it's not enough to say flat out "no", which is why I wished I could find that topic. Still, I only mean "unfair" in the sense that the consoles could not get the same experience if they wanted to. All they could get is DLC, which they would have to pay for (most likely, but there is a chance). Also, do you think it's an insult to those working in Bungie if someone modded their textures? I don't really know how Bethesda feels, but it'd be nice to know (and a true and raw answer, not some Political BS to keep fans listening and buying their products)
-
No not really. The artist may have a vision for something, 8ut not everyone always agrees. I dou8t they care much a8out modding as it creates many good things as long as you wade through the nude mods and "I retexed everything 8lack" kind of mods. A modder doesn't go a say "They -blam!-ed this up so I will make it 8etter" usually they say " I could add this to the experiance and make it 10x 8etter"
-
Okay, that's understandable. Ah, I remembered another one slightly: PC has a lot of different variables in builds. How do you expect Bungie to optimize PC when new technology comes out more often than console changes? (This was not the exact question presented, but the main point to ask was the computer's variables)
-
Well they would handle it like everyone else who devs for PC. That makes it sound like PC is impossi8le to dev for tehehehe.
-
And that's why they should wait. With a triple-digit team, They can very easily switch to DLC/Expansions and begin PC port concepts AFTER they have finished polishing and optimizing for the consoles. Otherwise, they will be letting go of a lot of people.

Edited by Scienta: 6/15/2013 5:55:21 AMI am alright with this as long as it gets to me within a reasona8le time. I am patient. I also heard rumors that the PS4 was going to support some sort of Key8oard and mouse. If that happens then I have no reason to complain anymore. 8ut then its up to the dev.
