Why don't they just remove mandatory game installs? That would take care of the whole problem. Especially with a 500gb hd, that's gonna fill up pretty fast with all the games, dlc, game saves, music, apps, and movies people download to their Xboxes. Or I'm sure they can implement something where the Xbox can tell the difference between a game from a disc, and one you downloaded digitally.
Console gaming is supposed to be the easy, relaxed way of gaming. Just plug in and play. Nothing required other than the obvious things like a tv, the console, and a game.
Console gaming is supposed to be the easy, relaxed way of gaming. Just plug in and play.
going digital is just the way to do that, which means installs onto your hard drive. which saves time when you have to get up, find the disc, hope it doesn't have scratches, and put it in.

I would've thought that a good solution would be to enable offline (unlimited offline) play if the disc is in your xbox, or you can install it and play with the 24 hour check. Maybe they'll implement this if people are loud enough. Regardless, I'm sure there's a reason for the mandatory installs including performance improvements that can be forced due to the fact that developers know every game on the xbox one is installed directly in the system, as opposed to having to cater for people who are playing off the disc and people who have it on their HDD.

That actually sounds like the best solution. People who have games installed get the online checks, people who play off the disc can play without them. Seems very reasonable.
