I think its a great idea. traditionally; hunters/rangers have some kind of animal companion. alot of people who are used to Halo, CoD, and Gears may object. Many gamers of this nature; see no need for any kind of fantasy or RPG characteristic in Destiny. I wish that people would be more open minded to the fantasy aspect of destiny.

peopel be like; tank class..cool, hunter class..cool, Mage who casts spells'n stuff..cool. then we make other suggestion: Healers..not needed, rogues..not needed, pet classes..not needed , organic Mounts..not needed. Think about starwars. it has All these things! Why cant Destiny

Borderlands did something special: Its a shooter fist and formost; but is also part RPG. It has tanks, rogues ,healers, raid bosses, two pet classes, rare loot with all kinds of different effects, rare spawns, involved character stats, skill trees, and missions that play out more like quests. My point is Bungie is doing something more with destiny. I believe it will become its own kind of game. I will be mostly a shooter, but it will have major rpg elements to it. It would not suprise me one bit if Destiny had all these rpg aspects and more!

If you watched the GDC presentation, then you know Destiny is a mix of Sci-fi and Fantasy. But here's the thing; Pets aren't needed for good fantasy. Pets are just a gameplay element; an extension of followers. Given that Bungie are focused on making Destiny a co-op experience, I just don't think Pets fit into that vision.

After Halo 2 was done, they started working on destiny. When they started, they wanted the game to be a fantasy game with dragons and elves and knights and such. But they are more confortable doing shooters. So they have deside to make a game with both sci-fi and fantasy elements. They have actually thrown out ideas because they where too sci-fi. I will never say things are not needed in a game. If you think of it that way; think about this : you dont need to have a titan in the game, you dont need to have a warlock in the game you dont need to have a hunter in the game. But if you trully want to make a good game that stands out, you must break these imaginay boudaries that you guys have. They have plenty of tallent in that office; if they make something as far fecthed as having a majic user in a shooter work why not have something like blood wing in borderlands. Its really not that far fetched at all. Have you seen the concept art where the where the character has a pet tiger thing?? There is no doubt in my mind that they have entertained pet classes in destiny. Again; I know they are not needed, but this game will have hundreds of things in it that people will rip people out of their every day shooter comfort zone and you will love it :)

This so much.

You and I both. It's sad to see that so many people care so little for the RPG/fantasy/innovative ways of Destiny and Bungie. They just want a new shooter.
-
that's because it is a shooter, not a RPG. I like adding in other elements, i agree that it is good for a game. But pets takes it a little to far.
-
Yet even Bungie have stated they want RPG elements in their game. It's not JUST a shooter.

Edited by MoReCoWbELLx2x1: 5/31/2013 5:03:49 AMLike i said, adding in certain elements isn't bad. But pets is to far. No need for pets in a game that is mostly a shooter.
