I was once caught with scotch, DXM, and weed at a friend's house who I wasn't supposed to be at. His mom called the cops, and I literally pulled out of their gated community right as the cop was pulling in. Luckily, they didn't know what the car looked like.

    I did deserve to get out of it. The friend that I was talking about and I go back at least a decade. He just got out of jail, and his mom wouldn't let him see anyone. Total bullshit. She actually got CPS called on her a while back. Severity: Consuming a safe substance < being disorganized

    What does that have to do with you possessing illegal drugs and apparently not deserving to get charged for it? I don't agree with it being illegal, and you obviously don't either. But the thing is, it IS illegal. You deserved to get the cop's baton up your ass.

  • lol Illegal =/= immoral You really need to grow up. Weed is safe (safer than alcohol, cigarettes, Doritos, apples), and makes you peaceful. There's literally nothing wrong with it. You know why it's illegal in the first place? Corporate greed.

  •
Illegal =/= immoral
And not a single person said otherwise. All I said was that it's illegal. I don't agree with it being illegal. But it is. And if you take a risk with the law, you're going to get burned every once in awhile. And you ought to be.
You really need to grow up. • Heh...no way in hell. First off, I'm not necessarily going to eventually "get burned" unless I mess up. It's called being safe and being cautious. Don't take unnecessary risks. The experience I listed above is the "worst situation" because it's the only bad situation I've experienced in terms of the law. Secondly, who says I "ought to be"? What makes me deserving of a punishment for something that you don't "even agree with it being illegal"? The only person who deserves a punishment is the person person who breaks the law and gets caught.

  • So, the way I read that is, a murderer who gets away with it earned it. He's exempt from his consequences. He's tacitly pardoned. No.

  • See, the thing is that murder is morally wrong and smoking weed is morally neutral.

  • Sure, but I'm not talking about morals, I'm talking about the law. The law obviously doesn't conform to your or my morality. So you can't look at it like that. You can't say, "I disagree with this law" and then it magically becomes intelligent and rational to disobey that law. The shit is going to be legalized within the next few years. If you can't wait, and you get yourself in trouble, I say you deserve the consequences for not only breaking the law, thinking you're a hard-ass independent because you don't obey it, and for being cripplingly impatient and desperate to smoke something you even admit is something you not only don't need, but is "morally neutral". If it was something necessary for people to live, and it was morally positive, then you might have a point.

  • You didn't read what I said. I avoided the law, therefore it's not stupid. You assume that all law-breaking is stupid and irrational. If they illegalized television, I would hide my TV in the basement and continue watching it. I bet you would, too. But TV is unneeded and morally neutral, as well.

    I wouldn't because the repercussions outweigh my own personal enjoyment. Assuming the punishment for watching television is something like jail time, I value (what's left of) my freedom more than I enjoy the risk of having literally no freedom for however long. I guess "deserve" is the wrong word to use, because it typically applies only to moral circumstances, and I don't find ingesting cannabis morally wrong, I just think it's insanely stupid. What I'm just trying to say is, you can't be upset about someone doing their job. You break the law, you can't expect there not to be repercussions involved. And maybe you aren't, and I just misunderstood.
