It's so God damn easy I don't get why no one thought of this yet. I posted this earlier a few months back but I think it was ignored. Before you start flaming me for my warped view of reality, at least read the whole thing
Give Civil Unions the same benefits as Marriage, and let Heterosexual couples be allowed to have Civil Unions. That would eliminate any "Separate but Equal" bullshit out of the water. But wait, there's more! Legalize Gay Marriage across the country, but let individual churches choose whether or not to accept the marriages. If Gay couples really wanted marriage they should have no problem finding a small local church to hold their wedding, and if they cant find a church to approve of it, there is always a Government equivalent with the same benefits.
Bam! Boom! Solved. Where's my medal?

Edited by Ryan: 5/28/2013 7:02:31 PMWhat I am saying is that your solution is pointless and more complicated than it needs to be. The simplest solution is to just legalize gay marriage. We don't need to make the government stop recognizing marriages or change the status of civil unions. The only justification for that would be to appease one side which isn't a good justification in and of itself. I was also saying that legalizing gay marriage, in general, is justified because it being illegal is unjustified discrimination, not simply for appeasing one side.

But if Gays got their marriage and the grump pants got their "No Homu allowed here" what's the problem? Literally everyone is happy but the No Homu guy cause the Gays are still gonna get married, just not with him. Or better yet! If the Churches refuse to recognize a Government marriage, we can just say fine, but we'll start taxing you now cause you don't recognize our programs. It would be like a penalty for being No Homu.
