It's so God damn easy I don't get why no one thought of this yet. I posted this earlier a few months back but I think it was ignored. Before you start flaming me for my warped view of reality, at least read the whole thing
Give Civil Unions the same benefits as Marriage, and let Heterosexual couples be allowed to have Civil Unions. That would eliminate any "Separate but Equal" bullshit out of the water. But wait, there's more! Legalize Gay Marriage across the country, but let individual churches choose whether or not to accept the marriages. If Gay couples really wanted marriage they should have no problem finding a small local church to hold their wedding, and if they cant find a church to approve of it, there is always a Government equivalent with the same benefits.
Bam! Boom! Solved. Where's my medal?

4 Replies in this Sub-ThreadI don't know if anyone's said it yet, but I can't keep a straight face when someone talks about protecting the "sanctity of marriage" while completely disregarding the 53% divorce rate in America.

I can bet that a portion of those divorces were caused over trivial financial matters. People don't bitch about Gold Diggers for no reason. That's why I would prefer The Government stay completely out of Marriage, there's no reason to give them benefits, not when a large majority of those benefits can be filed without marriage, or with single parents when it involves children. That was the point of this proposal, to begin eliminating the Governments role in marriage while offering their alternative if they are so Hell bent on it. I will never approve of the Government sticking its nose into the business of a couple, they wouldn't give benefits to them without wanting something in return, why does this not cross the minds of people? Think what you will. However if I was ever in a Government position of power I would push this since now is the easiest time to do so, and it would only be the beginning. I want the Government completely uninvolved in the affairs what a couple does.
