If the US Air Force and US Navy started to have joint bases with the Indian Navy and Air Force, that could strengthen Indian-American relations by making India more secure and lessen China's influence over the Indian Ocean by having the US Navy help protect trade routes in the Indian Ocean and prevent the Chinese Navy from having control of the Indian Ocean.

What's wrong with trying to maintain the status quo, which ensures all players keep their sovereignty?

I wasn't being entirely serious. I recognize the need for allies but it seemed like a "How can America get involved and benefit from this?" Getting involved in everything without the need isn't a good practice to have.

Like it or not, the world is only stable with one superpower and I think a lot of people would rather have America be the supwerpower isntead of mainland China. Competing superpowers will lead to a Cold War scenario and a much more uneasy relationship between China and America/NATO.
