Will you be waiting?

I want to know from people. Will you be waiting? Will you be in Destinys world standing by waiting for others to pass by to help them in battle even if you dont know them??

  • Sometimes when I'm experiencing a world for the first time, I like to be a lone wolf and do it alone. I think it's the fear that the other people I'm playing with are going to rush ahead, grab better gear, more currency, etc. before I can. But I hope Bungie finds a way to eliminate that feeling in Destiny so that you genuinely want to spend time with other players from the get-go. However once I've gone through a game, I love joining up and helping others. The example that comes to mind is playing Journey on PS3. Depending on my partner, I didn't like playing through the game with others the first time through. But once I got the white robes and felt like I knew all the nooks and crannies of the game, I loved trying to be a help to other less-experienced players. Guiding players off the beaten path to find glyphs and unlock achievements was lots of fun. I can't wait to see how people work together in Destiny. If there's any developer who can solve the common problems in the co-op experience, it's Bungie.

    • I always help others that I see when Lone wolfing, and normally others do the same for me. I beleive it is the initial response for everyone to either show Kindness, extorting, or chivalry. If I am with a group of Guardians, I have no doubt they will run through a group of enemies just to assert dominance.

    • I'm going to do the best I can to assist new players right off the bat. There will be another chance to rank up. Some people just need a little push to get them on the path to being Legend of Destiny.

    • Depends on how loot is handled really. If Bungie takes a page from Defiance and has personal (meaning everyone sees only their loot and each person has their own "loot phase" so to speak) loot for every person, then yeah I'll be down to help but if you have to compete for loot, -blam!- that you're on your own.

      • I've done it before in active MMO's. I tend to find co-op more rewarding than competitive play at times. Even in more simple games; such as Farcry 3 (which by way was an AWESOME game). Bungie has a lonnggg history of implementing revolutionary multiplayer improvements. I remember being blown away by Myst way back in my PC days. Incredible advances for it's time. They've already stated that a major portion of this game will entail 'seamless' co-op with friends n' strangers alike. I'm VERY sure Bungie will deliver an environment that motivates the most lone wolf of players. This will likely be achieved by speed (quick, effortless matchmaking) & reward (for example: A unique token that may be traded for rare items even if no mission loot is desired/needed).

      • Sure thing i'll try to help. I always do. I like cooperation. But that is not enough. It should be the entire game that will drive you to cooperation. If you have done a mission the achievements shouldn't be just "your better gear" or "your bigger boomsticks" but "radio network working", "spaceport available", "clear paths to all the sectors"... this would mean that you are not playing for yourself... you play WITH the others FOR the community. Any time. Ye of course... you will get some rewards because you need to personalize your character... but that shouldn't be the point. You should play because you wanny be "the best patrol ever", "the best assaulter", "the best recon"... and everyone should be able to see your achivements. This way, helping each other will be part of the "gameplay". Even if you play in solo.

      • I've always tried to help others when I can. As my work hours are insane, I never had a normal guild or group of people to play and explore with. I'm curious to see how destiny will work. I have 9 friends on Xbox live and 3 of them live with me. I've also been burned by parties in the past, and I don't see that ever changing. I hope, as most do, that bungie can find away to deter ninja looting in Destiny. I'm more about the experience the dungeon provides so I'm usually down for anything, but as we all know grinding can get boring. I hope that this isn't the case and we can all play like we should. Together.

      • I trust Bungie will do it but I have no idea how they're going to make revisiting the same seven (right?) worlds for ten years new and exciting for the hundredth and thousandth time. So if I go up to the Dust Palace for the tenth time, and am joined by someone else doing it for the first time, how will that work?

      • I'll most likely end up playing Destiny alone or with a close friend of mine for my first time through. However after that, I'll be up for helping people out. To keep it simple, over half my characters in Dark Souls are dedicated to co op for helping people get past certain areas and bosses. I just love helping out where it's needed.

        • I for some odd reason love nearing people that enjoy the same games as me and helping them out even if they are like "can you guys hear me?" I try and help them be able to talk to their group even though I only help for a second I love helping others no matter the situation, so in short yes!

            • I would no matter the situation, unless the person is a well known troll of course. When I help people in a game , I feel like I have made someone's gaming experience which gives me a warm feeling inside.
