Youre forgetting part of the definition. Necromancy (/ˈnɛkrɵˌmænsi/) is a claimed form of magic involving communication with the deceased – either by summoning their spirit as an apparition or raising them bodily

That is all newfangled. All ancient 'mancy' was divination. The literal meaning of the word is dead divination. And that is what all 'mancies' are. I don't know when but someone started using the suffix 'mancy' to describe any form of 'magic' or mysticism involving whatever prefix. Like 'pyromancy' being used to define controlling fire and what have you when it is really divining the future by studying flames.

While I knew this as well, I think both definitions are fine. Words and their meanings change overtime, they always have.
