So after I posted a question thread about the Destiny books I saw some deep divisions in the preferences of some of our readers, even some saying they don't like videogame books! (I know, right?)
So I've decided to make a thread where you say who would be your ideal Destiny author!
I'd be excited to see Patrick Rothfuss as an author, he seems pretty good at medival fantasy, I think such a skill could translate into the world of Destiny quite well.
Whose name do you want to see underneath the title of a Destiny novel? (you can choose more than one)

Christopher Paolini, the author of the Eragon series. He knows how to write about the relations of different societies, exploring an uncharted world, and straight up fantasy. His characters have amazing personalities, and is great at putting a story together where a small alliance can destroy a large force. His books are phenomenal. Alright you guys get the point he is a great author of this kind of stuff and I could ramble in about him all day.

1 ReplyI don't particularly want books, because I found that the Halo books limited Bungie somewhat. The amount of rage over Reach "breaking canon" seemed a little unfair, given that whilst Bungie commissioned the books, Halo was still their game and they should have the ultimate say on what was and what wasn't canon. I'm all for books as long as they don't create parameters that the next games have to unwillingly abide by.

Edited by Euler: 5/21/2013 12:23:31 PMI don't think Bungie will contract any. The Halo books were terrible. Seriously low-brow fiction. Even Greg Bear can't spin together a half-good story for the Halo franchise and he has what? 2 Hugos and a Nebula - although there are extenuating circumstances - he probably had to cater to 343's idea of a 'storyline'. I'm hoping they'll prove me wrong, but I haven't read any video game books worth their print.

5 RepliesThe writers for halo legends, they really know how to tell a tale.

Tad Williams he's a fantasy master who's dabbled in sci Fi.
-
Greg Bear, Christopher Paolini, Max Brooks.
-
Raymond E. Feist, He so swag he can write with his eyes closed, true story. (Although I think I can too :P)

I just hope if they do release a book that its a nice hardcover coffee table book with lots of background info and artwork. Not some cheap paperback thrown out by prima.

HG Wells, but I don't think this is going to happen anytime soon... Not without a time machine.

1 ReplyAll I hope is, if they make books, they follow the cannon of the game and I think the best writer there would be Mr. Nylund.

I'd love to read about Destiny and its magnificent world. Personally I'd love to write stories for destiny; I've always loved to read (like the other billions around the world of course) but to put video games and books together would be a dream job. Any way yea,,, I'd spend a small fortune on Destiny books(Hint Bungie !!).

No video game books

2 RepliesI'm not that kind of a person that likes to read, so as long as I don't need the books to know what's going on I'll be fine. I hope the game tell most of the story.
