This is my idea, it's pretty lengthy just to warn you. The Map: The overall map would be larger than new mombassa but would be split up into separate areas which would be separated by travel points so only one is loaded at a time. There are perhaps 4 sections of the map: 1) New Alexandria:This would bring back the city exploration from the old game. A difference could be buildings being almost completely accessible with bridges and ramparts going above the streets, giving some verticality to the maps. 2) The Facility: A badly damaged ONI facility which though large provides lots of tense cqc action. Spec ops elites would be more common here to make the player more cautious and put an emphasis on stealth. 3)The Wilds: A forested area like nightfall that could be home to some native reach wildlife like guetas and moas as well as covenant. There could also be more jackal snipers here that take advantage of the mountainous terrain. This would be the center of the map used to get from one area to another. 4) The Graveyard: The aftermath of the battle in TotS, filled with wrecked vehicles, debris and wrecked covenant structures. There could perhaps be some vehicle combat here with warthogs and ghosts with the map being quite open to allow for this gameplay. The Plot: You start by playing as the rookie dropping onto reach in order to assist with evacuation efforts and find bucks squad as they have valuable intel/an asset or something. They get dropped off in a setting like nightfall and after a bit of linear shooting as a tutorial for new players, his entire squad is massacred and he barely escapes. He then carries on and arrives at the main map. He follows clues that help lead him to the other squadmates, with flashbacks following each clue found. Over the course of the game the other squadmates meet up gradually and rookie eventually tracks them down in new alexandria where they hold off against the covenant on the rooftops as they wait for evac, similar to the battle at the end of NMPD. The game ends with the discussion in the ODST manual between Dare and a high ranking officer about the engineers. The Gameplay: You follow waypoints like in the other games, looking for the other squads. However unlike the first ODST, you can find lost marines and ODSTs along the way that join you using the fireteam feature from Halo:Reach. They would be in a fire only when fired upon state to keep them from blowing your cover when trying to be stealthy and if they die you have to carry on alone until you find others. There could also side objectives such as breaking into covenant/unsc weapon caches for power weapons or destroying covenants jammers to reveal more info about the area on the map. What does everyone think of this?
