Now that there is an actual scandal (the IRS one), you would think everyone would drop the whole Libya thing. It's been close to a year of arguing over how many hours it took to determine what kind of terrorist attack it was.

It happened in September...

Have you ever stopped to consider that the sudden spotlight on the IRS was an attempt to move attention away from Libya? After all, it was the IRS itself that opened the discussion up by admitting to it.

Why on earth would you do something actually wrong to detract from a fabricated crisis no one but hardcore right wingers even care about? People have been trying to manufacture a scandal out of Libya for almost a year. The whole scandal is why someone mentioned a protest hours after it happened. Reasonable people are going to understand there is going to be confusion during a sudden attack on a third world shithole no one has ever heard about before in their lives. Having conflicting information in the early aftermath of something like that isn't anything to care about.

Edited by HurtfulTurkey: 5/18/2013 5:27:33 AMI'm not suggesting the IRS incident was an attempt to pull attention from Libya, I'm suggesting its exposure was.
Reasonable people are going to understand there is going to be confusion during a sudden attack on a third world shithole no one has ever heard about before in their lives
Except the misinformation continued for weeks. I'm not worried much about the government's response...it was a terrible situation that nobody was really prepared for. What I'm mainly worried about are people like you claiming such an irresponsible and misleading response is nothing to care about. Just look at the response Bush got for Katrina...even though the governor of the state specifically blocked federal action. And yet anyone wanting to understand the events surrounding the death of an ambassador is an extremist? Unbelievable.

Read all of this.

I read the first page; I'm not going to read an old discussion in lieu of holding one here, as is the point of a forum. Interestingly enough, that thread seems supportive of the investigation...nobody in that discussion knew what had happened, even half a year after the incident. The liberals in the thread seemed to not mind the weeks of misinformation and the months of suppression by the media, instead assuming the outrage is focused on the inability of the administration to prevent or stop the attack...as evidenced by the conservative posts, that is not the reason for the attention.
-
I was hoping you would read further on, the first page didn't have the posts I was looking for.
-
I'm not a mind reader, Q. What posts are you referring to?
-
Look about pages 3-6. Basically, that conversation. To blame this entirely on the President or even just on the administration is rather silly.

True.
