Climate change is a natural process which has occurred in cycles since the start of the Earth. However, that's not to say human activity hasn't sped up the process through greenhouse gas emissions. We need to cut down on emissions, but that problem starts with the power companies and large corporations. Not the people. I'm happy to use eco-friendly bulbs, loft insulation, etc, to reduce my carbon footprint, but that is but a drop in the ocean compared to large companies. Global governments need to focus on reducing the carbon footprint of these companies before I can take my footprint seriously.

Small effects multiplied millions of times do have great effects. There's also things such as requiring all roofs in typically sunny year round states to be white or light shaded colors to reflect more heat away from the building, thus cutting down on cooling costs.

Indeed, small effects from millions of sources equates to one huge effect, but when you see the carbon footprint of certain companies (which, by the way, have enough profits to EASILY afford to change their policies regarding emissions), they can be as large as, if not larger than, large towns.

But they are also the most difficult to take down because they buy voter opinions with money who vote against such required changes. And the government is large enough that a multi-pronged approach is feasible.
