Ok, this is obvious to everyone here but me I'm sure, but why the hell is Bungie done with Halo? Yeah I know this is obviously old and I probably should have figured it out by now, but for some reason it's not clicking with me. Just because Bungie became independent from Microsoft, this means they had to leave the franchise? Or was this Bungie trying to just breakaway and show they had more up their sleeves than Halo?
Sorry for asking something so simple, just curious.

You want Destiny don't you?!

Just because Bungie became independent from Microsoft, this means they had to leave the franchise?
Microsoft owns the Halo franchise. Bungie as an independent studio cannot produce games in that IP. Also, a decade of Halo is enough Halo. (I.E. it should have ended with H3. Reach was fine, H4 was not)

To do something new and fresh and to give themselves some creative freedom.

Edited by Charlemagne: 5/13/2013 2:41:44 AMFrom the beginning they knew the end. Bungie was signed on to make a total of five Halo games under Microsoft's publishing. After that point all rights for Halo (except to the Bungie.net avatars apparently) we handed over to Microsoft to be developed under 343 Industries.

Did you play Reach? That's why.

Bungie wanted to leave Microsoft. Microsoft agreed, as long as they (Microsoft) retained the rights to Halo. Microsoft then created 343 Industries to produce Halo games.
