A name is put to an object. If the object was named something else, then it would still be that object, but with a different name. All you have to say is that the tree is a tree because we both speak the English language and that specific object falls under the definition of a tree. If you look up a giraffe, you'll get a mammal, not a tree.

  • See, this is the thing, I'd say that and he'd be like, so what, if I am raised by someone who call's a tree a giraffe, and I think that it's called a giraffe, it's a giraffe. Also, some other kid came in and was like, well if everyone started calling it a giraffe, then the second definition of giraffe besides the mammal would be a tree. Like, I couldn't reason with their arguments because they made no sense, while making sense. I don't know how to explain it.

  • If they continuously change the "rules" to win, then there is no way that you can win. Imagination is greater than logic when it comes to debates sometimes.
