Soldiers May Be Court Marshaled for Talking About Their Faith
So, any thoughts on this?

People in the military agree when they join not to spout their own religious beliefs because their statements may be taken as an official position of the branch they serve. This is something you agree to when you join, and by breaking it you can be subject to punishment. Just the same as if you went out and said we should use the military to kill off minorities or something. That's something many people might not agree with, but saying it in uniform would imply that it is a condoned position. Which it is not. Chaplains are ALREADY not allowed to go out and try to convert people. Chaplains are there for people to GO to, not to go promote their own beliefs to others. So that section is stupid.

Some ultra-left crazy guy wants people court-martialed for it. Some far right crazy guys are now using this as evidence of some sort of attack on them, despite all the evidence to the contrary (namely, that they're not being attacked by anyone with any power).

Then again just about every article is nowadays, should be expected by now. It gives a quote that specifically points out proselytizing alone, yet the article continues to say that simply expressing religious beliefs one on one would get you punished. Even further down they get a quote from a retired Lt. Gen. who ponders on how exactly they are attempting to use "proselytization", but don't let that stop the writer from trying their hardest to bring you over to their side instead of painting a clear picture of the situation. Teh puma isn't going to "pick a side" here until someone gives a decent amount of information.

Reporting on a report about a report with nothing but loose third hand accounts. Call it a hunch, but I highly doubt openly Christian soldiers are being thrown in jail as the author wildly speculates. Something tells me there is a huge exaggeration here over the military's recent move to target extreme Christian sites that have homophobic content.
