i think the whole ability to ban anything is stupid. We are a free nation, we should have unabridged ownership rights. just sayin.

-
the government doesn't have the "ability" to ban anything.
-
they can with the votes of the people. look how close we are to having no assault rifles. Gay marriage is illegal, and so is marijuana in most states.
-
You can have assault rifles. Point is. even if they technically say that something is banned, they dont have the ability to un-invent whatever they banned.
-
I'm sorry, but you seem very uninformed. Yes, we have SOME assault rifles now, but we are on a line i really don't want to cross. When they "ban" something it is illegal. They clearly can not change it, rather cast it to the side. And the real point is, this shouldn't happen. A government supporting a supposed "free" nation should not be able to impose restriction of any kind. It makes sense on specified property, such as an airport, but to have "contraband" is just plain stupid. We are no more children then the groups of idiots they call the house of rep's and supreme court.
-
The government can't tell me to do shit. I ill smoke all the pot and own all of the guns I want. Why dont you stop living as a sheep? This is a free country. Do not allow yourself to be controlled.
-
Wow, I can't agree more.
-
I dont want to be controlled any more than you, but the point remains, they have the power. And what exactly leads you to believe i am in conscience such as a sheep? I was standing up for the basic rights you suggested and stated that what the government is doing is plain stupid.
-
We have the power, we granted them SOME power which we can take away. They are tyrants and have no authority to do what they are doing.
-
Things have gotten bad, but it isn't just those in power. Yet in this day and age, many will hate me for this but I believe some things should be controlled and restricted. I don't care if you carry a gun, but an assault rifle is not needed. Drinking while driving endangers those around you so I say you shouldn't do that. Point is, sometimes people need to chill with this "freedom" concept, bite the bullet and work for the greater good. I am 20, and the generations that came before us are what put us into the place we are now. The ones in power, let things hit the way they did. The funny thing is they saw it coming, there is no way they didn't see it. They let it happen because they only care about their own interests. I think we should have a single ruler, have mass restrictions on everything and work together to fix this hole we are being given. If we bite the bullet, it could take maybe one generation to fix what those before wrought. That way our children can have a bright future. If we take the blows to make the world a better place for them, then they can live the life that should have been ours. We can be restricted, but they can have the freedoms we don't deserve to have. It will take everybody to do it, but nobody wants to act. All anyone wants is to do what is best for them and their kin, this will lead more to more of the same. I will strip myself of my liberties if it means changing that for them. It is the only way.

Assault rifles are definitely needed and reckless driving should be stopped no matter what is in the person's body. Freedom is very important and the quickest natural progression. Freedom achieved the "greater good." I think we all should be our own leaders with self-governance. There is no recovering where we are at, it's time to demolish what is obsolete and start completely over.
-
We are too far to just stop and be our own bosses. We would devolve into smaller groups with leaders. We would eventually fight like savages just to get back to where we are. Like I said, we need a new leader. One who isn't hindered by law or a constitution written for a time long ago. Someone who can do what it takes to fix this. I would follow that man or woman.
-
We don't and never needed or had a leader. The age of the document is irrelevant, principle is timeless. "Leaders" has caused the problem. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and people will never get rid of their greed or want for personal gain. Freedom is our way out of this. Diligent and responsible citizens are the only way to ensure our free society. I don't think we would fight like savages, I think we already do because of the oppression and destruction caused by government.
-
Our government is wrong in the way it handles things yes, but do you know what true freedom is? Do you know what would happen without order in our world? Without order, anyone could do anything they want. Without leaders to guide our enforcers, noone could protect law. Without law, any common criminal could do what they wanted. You could murder and steal as much as you want, get people with the same ideals on your side, and not be stopped. Eventually a leader of common interest would rise, and you would be powerless to stop. Don't say it wouldn't happen, because it did and still does in places like Africa. Leaders are needed to help guide common interests of people. Don't think for a second you could survive in a leaderless society.
-
Citizens make the order. Freedom means you can do whatever you want to your own body provided you harm no one else. "Every citizen should be a soldier. This was the case with the Greeks and Romans, and must be that of every free state." -Thomas Jefferson We protect natural rights which is the supreme law. We don't need a government to do this, the current one we have harms us a great deal and is a large waste and consume our wealth. We would be far ahead without their incompetence and stifling. No one has the authority to steal, murder or infringe on anyone in anyway, and we need to do everything we can to ensure our own freedom and the freedoms of others. There's a reason we fought a revolution and wrote a Constitution, leaders can be stopped. Give us more credit than that.

Yet look who put these people in power?
