What is the importance of BOBs? I have never saw them and don't really know what they are supposed to do.

It was the game Bungie made before they started making Halo, you should give it a look, if only to know your heritage. It was pretty revolutionary at the time because I think it was the first shooter that added a sense of verticallity. Marathon: Durandal is availible for download on the Xbox Marketplace, and there's a free demo of the first area. Check that shit out.
