How do we know god exists? Because its written in the Bible. How do we know the Bible is accurate? God said it was.
Seems legit.

Not all Christians look for proof. Some of us are perfectly fine leaving it a faithful spiritual endeavor.
-
Hey weren't you the guy who told us all you joined the army because you didn't like your own country's problems? Hell with that logic I'm not surprised you come out with stuff like that.
-
I joined the army because I had a problem with consumerism, and the notion I lived for "Things." And, what does that have to do with the circular logic shown by theists in general, and Christians in specific?
-
I meant how are you going to fix your country if you're fighting people in another one?
-
I got out in 1998. I fix my country now by voting and supporting companies that operate in a manner I agree with.
-
I wish you luck in your future endeavours!
-
You know for your age you'd think you would have better manners.
-
What do manners and my age have to do with anything? Oh, you suppose because I am older that I have to be polite to you? Hell no.
-
No I assumed that you would learn manners with age like most intelligent people do.

Edited by Capitons Wang: 4/14/2013 1:28:04 PMThe dumbest statement on the internet ever, you have made.

I LOVE the fallacy in that statement. Love it. And no, older people can be dicks with the best of them. In fact, we are the best at being dicks.
-
Well you've proven that with your posts.

Actually, we know the Bible is accurate because of historical and archeological evidence. Many secular historians wrote about Jesus and chronicled the apostles after Jesus returned to his father. There's also archeological evidence for the Red Sea crossing and Sodom and Gomorrah. I'm not even going to mention all of the prophesies that Jesus fulfilled. Or that fact that Daniel prophesied the Greek and Roman empires. The Bible does not use circular reasoning. While the notion might seem nice to you, the billion or so Christians don't believe fairy tales because they're stupid, they believe a historically accurate book because they do their own research.
-
>Prophesies Ha yeah right. Considering alot of the bible was written so long after these events happened. ANd which of those prophecies came true? >Daniel prophesized the greek and roman empires. The Greeks were already around at that time >Archeological and historical evidence I have yet to see other than eye witness accounts that might not be that reliable considering miracles at that time couldve been tricks or events that to a barbaric and primitive people seemed "holy". Also the red sea crossing? Can I get actual evidence on that from non biblical, non biased sources?

ha ha ha hahahaHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh dear. my sides. I'll have you know my diet coke came out my nose. You should go on the road with a comedy routine like that! :D

Edited by MADCONservative: 4/11/2013 7:40:25 PMI'm still waiting for an intelligent response. You probably fancy yourself intellectually superior to me, but with responses like that you should check yourself. :)

Oh. You were being serious? *clears throat* Ahh... Prove to me that the Bible was written when it was. IE, that the events prophesied were indeed said when it claims. You see, If I so chose, I could edit my above post to make it look like I prophesied your posting that.

Give me a few minutes. brb

Alright, here's a good resource for you. Ultimately, there is some faith required, as there is all historical texts. You can't PROVE to me that Columbus found America in 1492, because you weren't there, and neither was I. But that facts line up, and so I believe it. Same thing with the Moon landing, and JFK, FDR, and Abraham Lincoln being assassinated. Also, you are an extremely arrogant man, and I feel that you are not even trying to take me seriously, so this debate is done. Here's the source: http://www.historyofthebible.net/

People don't believe in the Bible because it's accurate, they believe in the Bible because they are stupid.
-
Hooray for looking down on people that disagree with you about a topic we will never know the answer to!
-
ouch just shut him down. lets chill a bit. both of you. we need not start a forum war.
-
How so? He asked how can we know anything happened, and I responded. The bible is its own source. How did he prove it wasn't written after the fact? I can prove that history books were written after JFK was assassinated, and that none predicted the assassination. You can't do that with the bible.
-
Nope, that's a dodge. You can actually find where people are buried, look at records, see artifacts that are from the events themselves. The Bible is of itself in how accurate it is. There isn't a single other book that is taken as fact, just because the book itself said that. Its like writing a term paper and citing a previous paragraph as one of your sources.

It's not that black and white.
