• Tampering with mail is a federal offense.

  • People don't have the right to bully others out of their first amendment rights to express themselves publicly. It is not the guy with the weird brand who is at fault here, it's those (like you, evidently) who think it is acceptable to punish him for his views.

  • Nobody cares about your warped and unrealistic interpretation of the first amendment. If he wants his business to be successful, he needs to keep atheist off the label. Regardless of what idiots like yourself think, the real world operates under rules that differ from what's on paper or whatever "theory of rights" you conceive. Sooner you learn that the sooner you can stop making moronic assertions.

I'm afraid it's your interpretation that's "warped an unrealistic" if you think first amendment rights don't protect everyone from being prevented from publicly expressing their views and opinions without fear of reprisal. And your own small-minded opinions are not the majority view, so I rather think most people actually do care. Freedom of expression is the cornerstone upon which free societies are built. You don't have to agree with what someone is saying to agree that they have a right to say it.

You missed my point entire and regurgitated the same thing in your initial point. Like I already said, freedom of speech on paper is different from freedom of speech in practice. If you paid attention in American history class, you'd be aware that people don't really care for ones freedom of speech and can still disagree with it in a violent manner. The 20th century alone is proof enough. Also, I never said you don't have a right to freedom of speech, so work on your comprehension skills as well. Not to mention you completely deviated from the actual business context. So it's pretty clear you fail at economic theory as well. You need to cater to your customers, regardless of your unrealistic notions of freedom of speech. Like this real world example clearly implies, you need to sacrifice some things in the name of business's. Carefully read over my post and understand my point before wasting my time any further.

  • You sure are arrogant for someone who evidently doesn't understand what we're even talking about. It isn't their customers who are the problem, it's the US Postal service workers who are screwing with the packages before they ever arrive at the customer's houses. This has absolutely nothing to do with business - government employees who are trusted with making sure things get to where they're going are violating that trust for petty reasons. And yes, you're right; sometimes people do try to suppress other people's freedom of expression. The part I don't remember from history class is the part where they said that such practices are acceptable and we shouldn't try to stop them when they occur. I guess I was sick that day. Now why don't you go actually read the article before you embarrass yourself any further.

  • I used to work for the shipping industry. Not USPS, but UPS, and I know how our culture works. If someone sees atheist on the package, they're more inclined to do something to it. I've never damaged a package on purpose, but I'm not like everyone. And that still doesn't make my point of business moot. Obviously his packages with atheist on the label aren't getting to their destinations. So the logical thing to do would be to take the label off and replace it with something else. Thus, he has a lower delivery failure rate. Considering you're doing nothing but wasting my time and failing to understand my point, I'm done here. You literally have no concept of culture, economics, the shipping industry, or basic culture.

  • There's a significant difference between not understanding someone's point, and just thinking that it's a stupid point that's clearly wrong. Obviously this is a distinction you need to work on recognizing in the future.

  • Reverse the situation. All outgoing mail from <some church>, bearing clearly identifiable church markings on the packaging is shown to have a slower delivery rate than unidentified packaging to and from equivalent addresses. Is that not an outrage?

It would be an outrage either way, just the outrage would come from different people. Perhaps in the reversed situation this problem would be cared about more.

  • Atheist packaging or not the shipments are still supposed to reach their recipients in a timely manner.
