One article counts as proof now? Lol.
-
There are thousands of stories like this. Approximately 800,000 crimes are prevented per year by law-abiding citizens who were smart enough to be armed or get armed quickly.
-
You got proof with that statement?

Edited by Enlightened One: 4/6/2013 10:40:16 PM"It is not hard for gun-using victims interviewed in the NCVS to withhold information about their use of a gun, especially since they are never directly asked whether they used a gun for self-protection" Someone smashed down my door or window and comes into my house and gets shot by me. What other proof is needed that I was about to be victimized? Especially If I don't even know who the person is that were to break into my home. Castle Doctrine is the best. : )

We're in a thread about gun control, not gun prohibition. If you haven't realized the difference yet, I'm very sorry for you. The majority of people only wish that firearms were controlled, not illegalized.
-
Controlling them too much leads to them being illegalized. I know this topic about gun control, but gun prohibition is basically in the same category and has been mentioned already by others. That's how it works with anything.. You put too much control on something, it creates more problems than it solves.

Funny how that number is still smaller than the number of times guns are used in violent crimes.
-
Edited by Xplode441: 4/6/2013 11:03:14 PMAnd it's still smaller than the number of times: fists, knives, and other weapons are used in just aggravated assault. http://www2.fbi.gov/ucr/cius2006/data/table_19.html Knife control, Fist control. You wouldn't seriously consider those would you? Also 2010: Murder 12,990 http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2010/crime-in-the-u.s.-2010/tables/10tbl23.xls By state: http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2010/crime-in-the-u.s.-2010/tables/10tbl20.xls

However the amount of times guns are used to save someone are highly outnumbered by the times they are used to murder. Not that I care one way or another about guns, but at least get your facts right.

Edited by Enlightened One: 4/6/2013 10:30:48 PMHere we go: http://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/2012/october/annual-crime-in-the-u.s.-report-released "According to our just-released Crime in the United States, 2011 report, the estimated number of violent crimes reported to law enforcement (1,203,564) decreased for the fifth year in a row, while the estimated number of property crimes reported to law enforcement (9,063,173) decreased for the ninth year in a row." What else is there to say?
-
I don't get the point you're trying to make.
-
Leave people's guns alone or move to the UK?
-
You believe in zero gun control? Do I have to have the same talk to you too?
-
I believe in reasonable gun control.. Not out of control, control.
