Half Life -blam!-ing 2.
Never in all my life understood why this game got so much praise.

It has it's reason. You know the whole thing of games not having cutscenes but instead having the narrative being played all around you? Yeah, Half Life 2 paved the way. You know the implementation of a physics engine into games? Yeah, Half Life 2 paved the way for that. It was a great shooter with great flow and pace, variety of scenarios and objectives, had puzzles, different types of enemies. It basically had everything a FPS is supposed to have. How you don't consider it a good game is beyond me.

Halo CE already had all that besides the puzzles. And I don't understand the cutscene thing you're talking about.

Which is exactly why Halo CE is such a highly praised game, like Half Life 2. Half Life 2 has no cutscenes. Cinematics don't exist in that game, so like for example, in Halo CE when you're in the control room, instead of having the cinematic come up and the whole thing with Cortana and 343, if it were like Half Life 2, you wouldn't be bound to watch the cinematic, you could walk away and go anywhere you wanted. You could miss the whole damn convo if you wanted to or miss parts of the story for wandering off. The narrative is played around you constantly, from which you are not forced to watch a cutscene. You see what happens if you want to.

I know, but still. Half Life 2 deserves respect from everybody for what it brought to the industry.
