The more you think about it the more that it's true. However our body NEEDS oxygen to survive. We don't need cocaine to survive. But in the same respect, if you inhale too much oxygen you can actually die (hyperoxia). Our atmosphere is in a 1:4 oxygen to nitrogen ratio, and if it was just made of pure oxygen, we wouldn't be able to survive. Why do you think that divers breath a mixture of oxygen and nitrogen? So I guess that could make it like any other drug.
Does that mean water is a drug too?

Breathing pure oxygen would not kill you, astronauts do it.

Edited by aTALLmidget: 4/5/2013 10:04:02 PMA lot of oxygen is never really a bad thing for the body, unless you're a COPD person who runs on a hypoxic drive rather than hypercarbic. In that case, too much oxygen can prove hazardous. SCUBA divers use a mix because excess oxygen can be dangerous at higher pressure levels. Otherwise, at atmospheric pressure, it's quite safe to breathe near to 100% oxygen, unless you're as I mentioned previously, COPD. Naturally if the atmosphere was pure oxygen it'd ignite and we'd have a burning planet until it was expended. Actually, water is a drug too! So yes, we're taking in so many drugs!

I think we're stretching the definition of what a drug is bro lol. But hey whatever.

Water effects the chemicals of the body and brain and used in cellular respiration, so it is a drug lol.
