Why BioShock Infinite's ending works

My first reaction after understanding the ending was that it was futile, because in infinite other realities, Booker would have made another decision, and Comstock would live yet. But I forgot that there are constants as well as variables. Always lighthouses. Always a city. Always men. This is why there are multiples of Anna: Booker's death is the final constant. From all the variable paths that Booker took through the different realities, he would ultimately reach the same conclusion that Comstock has to be killed. The multiples of Anna are there from the multiple realities from which Booker realises Comstock has to die. Technically, I guess that means there should be infinite Annas, but that wouldn't be practical, or necessary to drown Booker. Edit: this is based on realities in which Comstock existed fullstop; the post-credit sequence presumably occurs in a reality before Wounded Knee. Maybe. But would Anna's crib still be there? Presumably she was born after the battle. Unless she was born really soon beforehand. Another mystery.
