Its like watching the marriage between Star Wars and Warhammer - lol.
General Grievous arrives in the opening scene together with Leandros (in full upgrade for the occasion).
Was hopeful that bungie may add some honest characters into the game. They do a spectacular job on the scene art, and then go and reduce it down to a 6 year old mind with the characters. Like the "Space Knight" armor on the front page character ?? Technology to travel across space, yet they dress in heavy armor?
And then to top it off ... all this armor has no effect in game (reach anyone, one shot for shield, one shot for armor & body ... may as well run around naked). Again the 6 year old mind placed within the games hit box technology.
Guess its marketing ... like it says on the back of the game box, "From the makers of Halo and the publishers of Call Of Duty" :(
I was entirely on topic and see right through you're terrible attempts to through me off, and speaking of on-topic, i have already proven my case.
lol ... "through" or "throw" ... are you doing this on purpose? Either you dont think through (no pun intended) your posts or your a complete moron. I just wish you could make an argument so we could respond.

And you're back to using my typos as a distraction for your ignorance. But, if you wish to know, I am HUMAN... right? I mean it's ironic how you complain of me going off topic and you can't come up with a valid argument, so you have to look for grammatical errors to fight me. it's sad. back on topic though... what say you in your defense?

I am not talking of full plate armor, but only 40 years ago the common soldier had no armor what so ever. Now they have kevlar vests and the military is moving towards even heavier armor.

Now THAT would be great to have in the game, even pimp it up with a little more tech. What cheapens the game is the 6y/o literal interpretation of a "Space Knight". They have done a great job with the in-game scenes, the concept and various races (from what we have seen thus far) ... and now all this effort gets diminished by a single stupid character. Imagine if the makers of the Batman "Dark Knight" had taken this view. Picture the lead dressed in a shiny gold crested plate armor ... the rest of the movie remains the same ... now would not that one major character change have diluted the whole movie?

if you have such a big problem with the game then don't get it.
if you have such a big problem with the game then don't get it.
lol ... if you want to go down on bungie before you have even played the game ONCE why not go practice on a small carrot. Is the game/bungie that precious that it cant take a single complaint?
-
They have done a great job with the in-game scenes, the concept and various races (from what we have seen thus far) ... and now all this effort gets diminished by a single stupid character.
No, it doesn't. What we've seen of the game is clearly showing that their effort is yielding great results. What we've seen looks and sounds great. If you have a problem with the titan, then I don't see why you don't have a problem with anyone else. At least two of the alien races(Fallen, Cabal) are heavily armored, similarly to the titan who is armored like a spartan, and it shows quite clearly. Honestly, I'm wondering why your problem is with something so trivial. If you don't like the armor, then I'd bet that you could change it. the armor's probably going to be customizable. If you're the only one complaining about the aesthetics of human characters, then that should be a hint that it really won't affect their sales or the amount of players near enough for Bungie or the playerbase to care. What really matters is the gameplay, and that's what I'm anticipating videos of. Besides, you have to admit - The Space Knight looks good, whether or not it betrays your idea of what the game should be. To really enjoy things like this, you should keep your mind open.
The Titan(A.K.A. "Space Knight") looks similar to the classes of the Diamond Sword team in Tribes: Ascend and possibly other titles of the Tribes series. Tribes: Ascend is also set in the very distant future. The game is still very successful. *Sarcasm*I wonder why?
Edited by URANUSx10: 4/1/2013 5:12:25 AMPersonally I am glad that armor is more of a stature thing. But perhaps your onto something. One might loose a little speed or mobility with enhanced armor? As for Destiny I rather like what I have seen so far.

Have you ever looked at any of the media for this game? The fact that its about space knights has been apparent from day 1. Beyond even the aesthetics it's always been made clear this was a scifi game with a future fantasy aesthetic and style. Did you look at one video and then come on here to complain? Also, master chief. Bungie ALWAYS puts their guys in future space armor. I'm just going to assume you're trolling.

Ever heard of a movie called Dark Knight (Batman series) ... did they dress him in medieval armor?"
You realize that the Presentation at GDC was the whole point of showing why the game is themed the way it is. They have said before how they love to explore new places both as developers and as the players. So we have this idea of going back in-time to a medieval day where a fantasy world can grow, but they still love their futuristic feel. Like Joe Staten said at GDC "Why can't we have both." Bungie as a whole also says "If it's not scary, it's not going to be good." If you don't enjoy it, then don't come to the website built around it, don't buy it, don't complain about it. --------------- EDIT: Changed names in quote to bold in order for them to stand out more. EDIT: removed double used "whole point".
"If it's not scary, it's not going to be good." If you don't enjoy it, then don't come to the website built around it, don't buy it, don't complain about it.
mmmm, nope looked again and not finding the "Space Kinght" scary at all ... guess "it's not going to be good". Bit harsh ... but if thats the rule - lol. But your point about bungie being weak/delicate and unable to take criticism ... I am guessing that is FAR from the mark. And this is NOT the Destiny web site - Activision are hosting that elsewhere together with the planned product support (on go live) pages. Your idea that anyone is only allowed to post sycophantic entries is laughable. Have you never played a game in which you found at least one point lacking ... and then posted this POV publically? (and BTW ... no need to spell out all your edit changes, honestly we dont care)
-
Do you understand metaphor at all? "If it's not scary, it's not going to be good." is saying not in the literal sense that the knights or anything are horror. and terrifying, it is saying that as developers they must take risks and go beyond their boundaries, and for most people that is a nervous place to be.
But your point about bungie being weak/delicate and unable to take criticism ... I am guessing that is FAR from the mark.
NEVER once did i say bungie was weak. in-fact, their ability to take these dangerous steps.. one would say they are brave beyond measure. Yes. I have played games that I myself have found lacks things, some people disagree. which is why life is full of variety, so if you dislike Destiny, then don't play it, and don't complain. If you want to play it, then shut up and quit complaining anyway.
(and BTW ... no need to spell out all your edit changes, honestly we dont care)
I apologize that I am an honest man.
-
What exactly is it that you want? Your stupid and campy, so you want your game to be stupid and campy. You don't get to decide what Bungie can or can't create. They've created characters that you can make look like anything but your too negative to appreciate it. Nothing displayed could have possibly satisfied you. You had your negative comments written in your mind before you even clicked play.

Dude... Just get close out your website browser. Unplug your computer. Never come back.
...Just get close out...
Only when you learn some basic english. Game is not even released and it appears some are already over defensive and insecure about the game.

We all make typos which is why i have no need to edit that. We are human mistakes happen, however, the fact that you must use that in order to distract from the fact that you're an idiot means nothing
Game is not even released and it appears some are already over defensive and insecure about the game.
Words from one who throws out how "bad" the Character Development video was, As much as he stated so many things as facts with no way to prove them. I made a typo, you started an argument with no ground to win.
We all make typos which is why i have no need to edit that. Note the "reach anyone" reference ... so even with all that armor it takes 1 shot to close down the shield, and second head shot to kill (ie thus armor and head collapse - same effect as no armor). Suggest you go play a game of reach and confirm that for yourself before ranting AGAIN. And the point was in reference to modern armor ... which was the last force to equip their man in heavy armor such as this? Why would a civilization capable of space travel take a leap backwards ... this is something a six y/o would think up.
What's wrong with marketing yourself on your accomplishments?
Can see the WHOLE point was wasted on you ... how is COD, Star Wars, War Hammer part of bungie "accomplishments"?
Can see the WHOLE point was wasted on you ... how is COD, Star Wars, War Hammer part of bungie "accomplishments"?
Since when did Bungie PUBLISH COD, the lines specifically say, "from the creators of halo, and the publishers of call of duty" that statement is obviously talking about Activision, and not once did the guy say it was strictly about Bungie's accomplishments. Seriously, You are trolling about a stupid armor style? Everyone in this argument has has proven good points yet you are the only one that acts like a 6yo by insulting them for giving valid reasons to Bungie's decisions behind the 'space knight'. They are trying to make a new genre called mythic fantasy, Destiny's original concept was a fantasy genre, so when they changed it to a sci-fi setting, they brought over some of the ideas from the fantasy concepts. Plus, how does the style of the armor's representation have ANYTHING to do with how effective it is in combat? the answer NOTHING.
-
Trolling the old threads are we ... you reply to a 3 week old post ... yeah - lol.
Destiny's original concept was a fantasy genre, so when they changed it to a sci-fi setting, they brought over some of the ideas
Do you have a link to prove any of this ... show us all how you back up that mouth of yours, provide a link detailing the time when Destiny wasn't sci-fi. Put up, or shut up, time.

Edited by Oh GodLike One: 4/19/2013 10:24:22 AMOk ... the original announcement. Watched it a few time since its released, but not about to watch the whole thing again - yawn. Not saying it doesn't support your claim, but care to link to the frame point, or at least provide a minute point (you know that youtube links can include the timeframe for references dont you?) Edit: On second thought ... dont worry. I think the "space knight" is childish and cheapens the game, happy for you to feel otherwise. Still going to try the game ... hey WOW had those lkung fu pandas, why shouldn't bungie have "space knights" ... perhaps we have Blizzard to thank for both.
