Reviving Aerospace

It was brought to my attention today that the only way of reviving Bungie Aerospace was if Bungie decided to revive it themselves. While this statement is true, this got me thinking, and me thinking can be a good thing. What if Bungie Aerospace was reimagined into a Kickstarter type of project. Now I'm not talking about Bungie looking to Kickstarter to fund Aerospace, but more in the way that it allowed new independent developers to utilize on Bungie's popularity to garner support for their ideas in the form of small monetary donations. How it could work is, a small independent game studio has a great idea for a game, this game is 60% complete, most of the major functionality exists, but the story and levels needs some work. So this small company goes to Bungie Aerospace and fills out a form or two, and utilizes the tools provided by a Bungie Aerospace's website to create a small presentation. The people at Bungie Aerospace have a keen eye for a good game when they see one, so they accept the presentation, and post it to the website for the public to decide if it is something that they would be interested in playing, and if so could donate to the project, in essence pre-purchasing the game. Then once enough people pre-purchase the game, the game gets the "green light", and the full force of Bungie Aerospace backing the project. This is just a rough idea, but you should be able to see what I'm getting at, similar to other things like Steam's green light, or other fund raising site. I don't know, what do you all think? Can we save Bungie Aerospace?

  • I don't think Aerospace needs "reviving", as it isn't dead. As recent as December, Enormous Corgi was encouraging forum goers with projects to apply to Bungie Aerospace. There's just been no news, which isn't a bad thing in the slightest, it just means developers are hard at work.

    • I had this thought awhile back that I was wondering if Bungie would somehow use Destiny as an interface to making some type of independent game/product that users could sell if they desired. I can't remember the name but there is a game right now that allows users to create content, get it patented, and make money off of it. What is Aerospace was a preemptive thought of that? What if they are setting up a way for the community to truly "shape their new universe" and take part in its glory?
