• If prime minister wants to invite a foreign leader for a state visit then he asks the Queen to host a meal and what not. She also goes to other countries like Ireland, Australia hell she has been to most countries in the world at least once to help with foreign relations. So yes she does actually do something, go ask Australia.
So yes she does actually do something, go ask Australia.
Don't try and use us to claim the monarchy actually does anything. Everybody knows that it's purely ceremonial - if it weren't, Australia would become a Republic in a blink.

If you mean Whitlam, the Queen had zero involvement in that. In fact, the Governor-General who dismissed Whitlam was actually appointed by Whitlam himself the year before. I'm not aware of any other occasion on which the Governor-General has dismissed a Prime Minister of Australia.

  • Well the governer-general only acts on the Queens orders and if Whitlam was the PM that got dismissed the guy who took over was also dismissed because he tried to pass a law through quickly and then an election brought the 2nd guy back into power.

No, the Governor-General does not act on the Queen's orders, and, no, that's not what happened to Gough Whitlam. I'm pretty sure that the only place the Queen comes into it is that she technically 'appoints' the Governor-General, but, in practice, she's just acted as a buffer to appoint the Prime Minister's choice for the majority of Australia's history as a nation.

  •
On 11 November 1975, Whitlam intended to call a half-Senate election in an attempt to break the deadlock. When he went to seek Kerr's approval of the election, Kerr instead dismissed him as Prime Minister, and shortly thereafter installed Fraser in his place. Acting quickly before all ALP parliamentarians became aware of the change of government, Fraser and his allies were able to secure passage of the appropriation bills, and Kerr dissolved Parliament for a double dissolution election. Fraser and his government were returned with a massive majority.
Double dissolution, like I said there was 2. I will admit I was wrong about the governer general thing though

  • A double dissolution isn't at all the same thing as being dismissed - it's essentially just when the Prime Minister calls for a total election of both houses of government.

  • So the shit load of jewels, castles, parades, overt spending, and the like, is justifiable for a foreign relations person?

  • They also pay a crap load of money into the country and take very little in comparison. They also pay for those "parades" all the tax payer pays for is security which is the police and military which we pay for already. If we get rid of the Monarchy not only will our taxes increase, the income of the country would go down a bit, we lose our identity as a country, our culture and traditions and lose a lot of tourists. Our foreign relations will probably decrease to because the idiots in Westminster are useless idiots. Nobody wants any of our Prime ministers as a president to the point they can declare war and pass any legislation they want by use back handed tactics possibly turning the country to a dictatorship. Like I said the Royals give a hell of a lot more than they take so we keep them around.
