Bug: Users can insert Polls into other People's Topics
Bug: Users can insert Polls into other People's Topics
Status Update: Bug Squashed, thanks Webteam!
Description:
I first noticed this bug when looking at this thread which is not a Poll thread, and yet there is clearly a poll on it. Apparently you can insert polls into other people's threads by creating a related topic that is a Poll, and then whatever poll you create appears in that person's original post.
Reproduction Steps:
1.) Create a Thread that does not contain a poll.
2.) Click Start a Related Topic
3.) Check the "Post a Poll" box.
4.) Finish up the post so that it has a poll of some type.
5.) Post the finished related thread.
6.) Return to the original thread, and observe that there is now a poll in it that matches the poll of the related thread.
Results:
There is now a poll in the original thread.
Expected Results:
There should be no poll in the thread unless you originally made it as a poll.
Notes:
If multiple people make related threads that contain polls, the most recently updated of those polls will be the one that appears in the original post. Also from observation, this trick does not work on threads that originally had polls in them.
OS: Windows 7
Browser: Internet Explorer 9
Are you running add-ons/plug-ins?: None
Dark/Light Theme: Dark
Also as various other people have demonstrated, they are able to put a Poll into this thread even though I never created it with a poll. Needless to say this bug has the potential to be rather destructive, so please fix this :)
