Kill off 75% of the population and turn the remaining ones into monsters or return to watching spongebob? Yeah I'm going to choose the option that's not pants on head retarded and go back to watching spongebob.

  • But it would be a great evolutionary leap for the human race. We would become so much more advanced.

  • No it wouldn't. Killing off 75% of the population would reek havoc on civilization. The shock people would get by being transformed into monsters wouldn't help either and many of the ones who lived would probably commit suicide. Shit would go back to the tribal era, gaining intelligence doesn't mean you automatically learn how to do everything and with 75% of the population gone it's very likely that most if not all of the worlds scientists and engineers would be dead too. This entire proposition sounds like some angsty 12 year olds poorly thought out personal fantasy.

  • In the beginning, yes, it would be much havoc. But in a few centuries/millenniums, we would be able to regain what we had lost and then some. You would most likely never see the final result of your choice but our civilization would become so advanced that we might even be able to traverse deep space.

  • Or you could just stay the course and we could reach that in around half that time. You don't give humanity enough credit, our technology has been advancing exponentially in the last couple decades. We're already starting to unlock the doors to immortality.

  • Humans have effectively halted our evolutionary process. Unless we can figure out a way to change our DNA to be whatever we want it to be, we will not evolve any more. There is no natural selection going on any more, at least not enough to show significant changes in the long run. This fact can be seen by how many of us need glasses, medicine etc. If we still lived in the wild, almost none of us would need glasses. Lord only knows what else we might be losing in the future. I've talked to multiple biology teachers around campus and my previous high school and they all agree with me. I know you don't like anecdotal evidence but I'm honestly just too lazy to find an article on it right now, nor do I care enough.

  • We have halted the natural evolutionary process, hence why transhumanism is the answer.
