Most Bronies admit to not being able to stomach the opening. I admittedly skip it each episode. And are you implying that the only sufficiently-sized piece of the show you have watched is the opening? If so, how can you "not understand" Bronies if you've barely seen anything?

  • That's not my point. I mean the opening clearly identifies the show to be targetted towards 4 year olds, 5 year old girls, and ultimately makes me question how it ever becamse popular amongst the older male demographic even more.

  • The implication there is that it is an entirely implausible thought that some father/brother joined a younger sister or relative to watch the first episode, or very likely others throughout the first season, and spread across the internet that the show was, much to their surprise, enjoyable. I don't know what male individual originally proposed that it was watchable, it but happened somewhere. Intended demographics are able to be breached given the show is well-made enough. Several children's shows/movie are clearly targeted towards 5-8 year olds, but are enjoyable to older audiences.

  • Yes I understand that, people who watched it with a younger relative and surpsingly enjoying it. But, I've seen many shows when looking after my 8 year old cousin what are meant fr children which are enjoyable, but I don't go out of my way to watch them, nor do I tell everyone how good it is. And I sure as hell don't take it to the extreme like many bronies do. how about that picture where some guy asked an artist on deviant art not to draw twilight sparkle because he's engaged to her?

  • So this may or may not be the first of its kind. Without the presence of the community, its quite likely that the show would not be as popular as it is. The reason being that viewers could not take comfort in the fact that there are other people who share their interest and acknowledge they aren't doing anything wrong. And there are similar bizarre fandoms regarding numerous anime shows as well. That concept isn't new whatsoever. I lament for people to stoop to that level, but I try what I can to tolerate it. I just feel bad for people who've developed "Tulpas" and things of that sort.
