Yeah this is something I've noticed too. I don't understand why guys think like this. There's nothing inherently gay about complimenting another man on his appearance. I guess it's just kind of this natural instinct of competition. Guys are naturally wired to always compete with each other for the most mates, and if you acknowledge that someone is superior to you in some way, that is considered abnormal. Usually the women are the ones who like to feel inferior to a man; they like to be dominated. That's just how it is.
Holy hell I just answered my own question.

Edited by Verbatim: 3/14/2013 9:15:58 PMThat wasn't really what I was asking though. I wouldn't make a thread with that banal of a premise. "The only thing that makes you gay is being gay". Yeah, yeah, we all know that. This thread is more of a defense of homophobes. The victims of homophobia like to play this weird sort of tu quoque fallacy, where they accuse the homophobic asshole of "being in the closet", and the reason he is so belligerent against homosexuality is because he's ashamed of being gay himself. ...Except, maybe he's not gay at all. Maybe he's just an intolerant, albeit heterosexual, asshole. Like, being against homosexuality (which, granted, is wrong) doesn't make you gay. Being gay does. So, why do people continue to accuse homophobes of being gay? That was the question.
