The story would have actually been in tune with canon, and thus enjoyable for me and not a piece of crap, and there would actually be a story line hinted at (if it was even going to be a trilogy that is) and loose ends to connect to. Even though CE was not intended to be anything more than a standalone game when it first came out, there were still plenty of loose ends to continue the story off of, like the Forerunners and the fact that there were more Halos out there, or that the Covenant was still out there as well and continuing to wage their genocidal war on humanity.
Halo 4 though? Really, what more is there to do? The Derpdact is dead and gone, and the Composer destroyed...what more is there going off of the campaign alone? And one thing we definitely would [i]not[/i] have gotten, as Spartan Ops seems to be hinting for Halo 5, a boring rehash of the [i]first[/i] trilogy where we're fighting what's basically the Covenant all over again.

Yes, and I see no problem with them co-existing or connecting together at all...fit just fine. And if you're going to complain about things contradicting TFoR, then you should throw ODST out as well and most of the rest of Halo as they all "contradict" lots of different aspects of TFoR as well, if you're going to complain about Reach you might as well complain about the rest of the series too.

Wow, I must have imagined all of the problems and canon breeches that 343i have introduced when it comes to Halsey, ONI, and the Elites [i]and[/i] the Didact too, oh wow, thank you for opening my eyes, I never knew how awesome they were and how they could never make any mistakes or mess up any canon ever. /blatant and extreme sarcasm It'd take too long to even begin to list everything that 343i has mucked up with their "-blam!- Bungie and canon, we'll do whatever the hell we want, who cares if it actually fits the series or not" attitude. Everything they've been releasing since Glasslands, with the exception of Primordium and Forward Unto Dawn, though even FUD isn't perfect and has its own little problems meshing and fitting, has been violating or outright ignoring canon left and right...it might as well not even be called Halo anymore with the extent that some of these things change or -blam!- up the whole thing. Reach fits just fine, and frankly, I've had enough of that whole debate to last me a lifetime and I have no wish to jump into that [i]yet [b]again[/b][/i] -__- And the Derpdact is dead, deader than a doornail...I don't care if he's a Forerunner or not, you try surviving a Forerunner grenade exploding on your chest/completely shorting out your armor, and then falling into a Slipspace portal which would be sending the newly composed Prometheans into a data storage...big entity made of flesh and blood going into something like that? You get your insides all mashed up and rebuilt in and around machinery...and that's if he made it through to the other end. If he was still going through Slipspace when the nuke went off and destroyed the ship...well then, good luck surviving Slipspace pal, or living very long if you get dumped somewhere out in the middle of nowhere in nothing but your space-suit/armor. The Derpdact is deader than a million year old corpse.
