You basically summed up some reasons I'm fine with pre-ordering this early. I've enjoyed every Bungie game I've ever played. They have a dedication to quality that few other developers have. On top of that, I made a list of things I hoped Bungie would bring to Destiny. The ViDoc checked off some of the major ones. On top of it all, I can always cancel the pre-order and get my money refunded. And I still get a kick-ass poster out of the deal.

  • Do you remember when they asked what it would be like to have a world that is always there for you? That's where I started with my ideas about the core concept. I painted a picture in my mind of a massively multiplayer game with an open world that players could actively influence. Branching story paths, multiple worlds. Encouragement of teamwork to complete missions, but not something that would get as serious as typical MMO raids. Destiny is shaping up so far to be exactly what I wanted.
