There is apparently going to be a lot of customisation in Destiny, so in this topic I will put forward a few ideas on how some things could be done.
1. Autosculpting
In Need for Speed, there was an aspect of the game that let you customise the body work of your car how you wanted (sort of). Go to 0:39 in Linked video*
In Destiny, this could be implemented for armour and weapons (or anything else) for personal cosmetic likeability.
Example, on a helmet, you could change the position and shape of the visor to how you wanted. Or adding an antenna to the helmet and changing it's position and length, maybe change the size of different sections.
Changes could be done to weapons and equipment, like changing the shape or position of some parts. some changes would affect the weapons/equipments stats, which I'll talk about in section 3.
There would obviously be limitations set by Bungie so that the object wouldn't change too much from it's original state so that you wouldn't recognise it. and that any additional equipment to armour or weapons would have certain places they could be placed.
2. Colour.
Colour is a big part in customisation, most of the time it is the only customisation you get.
A full colour palette should be included in Destiny, as well as pre-set colours (e.g. Yellow, Black, Blue, Pink, etc.) for use on Armour, Weapons and equipment.
There should be a range of different sections we could change the colour of. example:
Chest Primary 1
Chest Primary 2
Chest Secondary 1
Chest Secondary 2
Chest Detail
Chest Illumination
Some things may have limited colours, like visors and lights, but most things should be fully colour customisable.
There could also be a few skins/camo's that could be bought for the weapons and armour, that the colour could be changed for.
3. Weapon and Armour attachments.
As well as cosmetics, there will be some things in the game that will affect gameplay. These should also be just as customisable in terms of cosmetics, and things like damage, range, etc.
Example, you could place a scope you like the look of on a weapon, then you could choose what zoom magnification you wanted, and this would change the scopes length and size. Or when changing something like the range of the gun, the barrel would extend.
To stop someone making an 'ultimate' gun, some changes could weaken another stat. e.g. increasing the bullet damage (e.g. it could change size of bullet) would increase recoil and reduce accuracy, maybe reduce rate of fire as well.
Or there could be a certain amount of 'points' that could be spent changing the gun.
What do you think? Remember, there are just Ideas and the examples shouldn't be looked to far into.
Thanks for reading.

2 RepliesI'm hoping cosmetics don't effect stats. Say, I get a piece of armour, I don't want my stats correlated to it. Because if there is a really good piece of armour, that I like the look of, everyone will be wearing it because it has the best stats, that's counter to player customizations. So, a good system would be spending level points on stats, and spending money on cosmetics. But I don't think you'll be able to customize the cosmetics you get. You won't be able to reposition the spike on your shoulders to go to your nipples, or your cod piece. >_> OR shape your visor the way you want. I'm thinking it will be like Halo: Reach, in that you'll have a base helmet that you can buy, and maybe buy attachements for it. You'll also be able to buy weapon upgrades. So, some would be cosmetic like a weapon skin, a purple stripe or something, blood splatter, who knows. And you'll also be able to buy attachements for your guns. So a longer barrel, a better scope. But you can't perfectly customize these things to your liking, you'll have to buy and mix and match them. So you can't add a stat to damage and range, and what not, you just buy the scope that has x3 zoom, it doesn't affect recoil or anything, your guns barrel would. I don't know if this makes any sense, but you'd buy pre-rendered things, you wouldn't be able to morph the gun how you like.
