Destiny's Helmets.
It all looks kick ass but for once I'm hoping my Guardian can have a face! Helmets are awesome but hopefully they're a option.
Honestly just tired of games where we have a bunch of helmets when really we all care about what's inside them. Your face. I rather have hair, eyes, mouth, nose & a mole then a future looking helmet.
Not hating on the game/gameplay itself, all that looks outstanding. Please don't make this like Halo where we pick out different helmets, I find that not good enough.
That hood & cape looks cool but to have a helmet under the hood! I find to look a tad bit stupid.
Sorry if I sound harsh not going for that.

I'd like to have the ability to remove helmets in safe environments, maybe even have retractable helmets like Iron Man or Dead Space, or even just have them forcibly removed in certain areas/towns the way other games do. On a side note, I'd like to see helmets be able to becomes damaged and battle scarred, perhaps even enough shots to the head could destroy the helmet, resulting in death. Since in most games you die if you get shot in the head anyways, now you could have a whole new way to do it, IN SPACE!

Being an Exo I wouldn't have to worry about breathing in space so I think I shouldn't have to wear a helm.

I think it would be nice if you could remove your helmet only in the Last City. Here, the Traveler is protecting us from the hostile environments of the ravaged world. To go without proper gear and protection anywhere else would be pure foolishness.

At GDC they did mention that they were researching physical looks like tattoos, hair, and makeup. So I would assume that there's going to be some feature in the game that allows you to take off your helmet or mask.

I highly doubt you'll be able to change your facial features. Presumably, the core gameplay feature of Destiny is around the FPS aspects of the game. You will be in combat, with bullets flying around your head. In these scenarios, you would wear a helmet. Having customizable features under a helmet would require a significant amount of modeling, development, testing, etc, all for a feature that wouldn't be seen during most of the gameplay. I agree, it would be a cool little feature, but one I don't see Bungie putting high on the priority list. As far as the style of the current helmets go, keep in mind that we've mostly only seen concept art. I'm sure Bungie has a slew of helmets planned for us to unlock and choose to wear. Some may have visors, some may not. Some may be plain, while others may be ornate. I have high hopes.

I agree 100%. However unlikely it is we will have facial customization, I really hope Bungie considers it. If so I'll be fighting without any helmet.

The Titan design is an obvious nod to Halo........ and it's cool to see an EVA style helmet in Destiny.

10 RepliesReally OP you like the helmets? I find they kind of look bland. They almost look like Halo 4 helmets which look spectacularly bad. The Destiny helmets have no flare or uniqueness to them and where the hell are visors? I know this nitpicking but it really infuriates me when people make shitty looking helmets without any visors. It just looks artistically tacky and idiotic when a huge chunk of metal plain metal is covering your character's face. I don't have a lot to judge by right now. But man if these helmets are anything like what we've seen so far. Consider them boring.

That would be dumb; not having a helmet in a combat situation involving guns when there's the option to have a helmet is ridiculous and no sane person would opt for that.

I'm hoping that there's areas in the game where there's a breathable atmosphere and you have the option to not wear a helmet there, but for like space travel and areas without a breathable atmosphere you have to wear one. That'd be nice.

Well most MMO's have faces so imagine we can change the face but mostly wear helmets.

Considering the game's locations I'd assume Helmets are essential. I'd assume it's hard to breathe on other planets in our solar system :P How the tits are we supposed to even go near Mercury, anyhow? (Can we even go to Mercury?)

5 RepliesBut then we'd have to be able to customize that stuff. Our hair, our nose, eyes, mouth, etc. etc. etc. I think we're only going to get helmets. We could have 1000 helmets to choose from, and that would be less than all the options Bungie would need to provide for making your face truly customizable and yours. A plethora of hair options, mouth options, eye options, scars? skin tone and colour, are you old, young? You know why we can have such customization in Skyrim, it's because it's a single player game. As soon as you make it multi-player, especially multi-player to the extent this game will be, you won't be able to maintain the customization. This is why I think we won't have the face option.
