So pretend you are the only survivor in a plane crash. you can crash in the canadian wilderness with a hatchet, and a days worth of food, or in Africa with a jacket, and a small pistol. if you decide to crash in canada, if you dont want the hatchet, and food, you may choose a warm sweater, and a knife. In Africa, you have the choice between the original gear and a fire starting kit with a bow and arrow you use in your backyard, and are a decent shot. Which would you choose if you wanted to survive for as long as possible, and eventully reenter civilization, and how?

4 Replies in this Sub-ThreadCanada, easily. I can handle the cold just fine, and I know how to hunt for food and the general lay of the land for Northern Canada so I'd be set.

I'm sorry, but those things don't exactly make you a born survivor. Sure the hunting and tracking may come in handy, but what if there's nothing to catch? Do you know of other safe food sources?

multiple berry types, fish, some plants, I've camped out there before and learned what was edible from my father.
