1) This is 100% Speculation. Proceed with caution.
2) Getting your hopes up to an unrealistic degree can result in fallout and profound dissapointment later. Be careful when gambling with your emotions.
3) If your hopes get dashed, remember that you only have yourself to blame, Bungie has made no promises whatsoever. Also don't blame me >_>
With that out of the way, do any of you think that we might see something about Destiny in a commercial during the Super Bowl? Now, I would never expect a full reveal of the game, afterall, DeeJ himself said during the Mailsack this week:
You’ve been kept in the dark for so long. We wouldn’t dare just shove you out under the hot sun without letting you acclimate a little bit.
How and when is this acclimation process going to start? Keep in mind, Destiny needs to be revealed long before Bungie's Presentation on it at the Game Developer Conference in late March, and since the Super Bowl is watched by about a third of all Americans it seems like the perfect place for a teaser.
Imagine, some quick flashes of the full trailer, followed by the Destiny Symbol, a date for the full release, and a link to Bungie.net. It seems like the sort of thing that would be less "thrust under the hot sun" and more "acclimatey" to me.
I should probably reiterate at this point:
DISCLAIMER:

Also don't blame me >_>
My goal here isn't to whip you folks into a frenzy without something more substantial to base it off of, I'm just saying that you should keep your eyes and ears open if you're watching the game or if you're on the internet while the game is happening. Afterall, you never know when a new Era might start. I also figured that this thread would eventually be made and I thought portraying it first in the most hesitant light might be prudent.
Feel free to discuss the chances that we might see a Destiny Teaser at the Super Bowl, or if you think that said chances are a load of malarky (they probably are), feel free to discuss how you think the acclimation process might start.

1 ReplyWell, Hyle? I'M WAITING.

2 RepliesEdited by Hylebos: 2/4/2013 4:23:31 AMTo be fair, I was technically right, Destiny related stuff was shown at the Superbowl... ...Nothing wagered, nothing lost, sounds like a fair deal to me :D
We wouldn’t dare just shove you out under the hot sun without letting you acclimate a little bit.
My bet is that they release it in the spring some time.

I was expecting the field to light up with a blue Destiny symbol during half-time. Instead we got Beyonce. I am disappoint.

Edited by Kickimanjaro: 2/4/2013 1:27:39 AMWasn't Halo 3 announced during a superbowl? I seem to recall jumping up and yelling at my TV, then calling a good friend, and rushing to the Internet after seeing a Halo 3 trailer during a superbowl. Anyway, I don't think they would announce Destiny while their site is still in Beta. Shame.

Man that would be so epic. I will not get my hopes high but it would be awesome.
-
It would be so epic...man the hype if that happened...
-
That would be pretty sweet, but I'm not getting my hopes up. It will happen when Bungie is ready to make it happen.
-
They won't.
-
16 RepliesBungie isn't made of that type of cash.
-
4 RepliesNow would be the time for Bungie to plain out say no and not get everyone's hopes up.
-
2 RepliesNow I'll have to watch it.
-
1) I did not need another reason to watch the superbowl this year, so I now BATHROOM BREAKS BE DAMNED! 2) It kinda makes sense - but at the same time that's alot of money to throw at a commercial when there has to be so much more marketing for this game.
-
There is a rumor that John Favreau directed a live action Destiny skit. If this is true, what better way to show it than during the Superbowl, the #1 televised event of the year. Game Informer will reveal their cover page story (which they say is a big one) either tomorrow or Tuesday, and Activision's conference call in which they will reference Bungie's game's development stage will be next Saturday. So all points are leading to a Superbowl ad. It'll probably not happen, but if it does, tonight IS the night.
-
5 RepliesI doubt it. Halo 3 had an insanely big ad marketing campaign you couldn't watch a show without seeing at least one Halo 3 commercial and Destiny doesn't have any hype from the people who haven't been paying attention to what bungie has been doing lately.
-
2 RepliesIf this doesn't happen I will be blaming you.
-
I think the can spend four million dollars in more constructive ways.
-
That's what I was also thinking. I did the same with halo 3, why not do it again? I doubt it's going to happen but I would love to see it.
-
4 RepliesAm I right in saying that the Super Bowl is some kind of sports event in the US?
-
*Waits for Skenny*.

2 RepliesEdited by GOMER7: 2/3/2013 5:16:16 PMMy only qualm with this is DeeJ's constant promise that Bungie.net would be the first to see some of the new hawtness. If it does happen -and I would not complain- I would think it was more Activision's idea/doing. It just doesn't feel like Bungie to pay millions of dollars for a teaser to appease the masses. But then again, they are wanting to bring in new crowds I'm sure, so overall this might not be a bad idea.
