Lets face it, obamacare is terrible
Why? employers everywhere are cutting hours so that they need not pay for employees healthcare, if you do get the opportunity to decline you end up having to pay fines for not having health care by the end of the year. I understand healthcare is important but millions of people may rely on lower paying jobs to sustain themselves, if you're barely able to make it on $10 an hour at 40 hours a week now, I highly doubt you'll be able to do it at 25 to 30.

3 RepliesI don't think we can say that as it doesn't really kick in until next year. So far the only things that have kicked in is teh pre-existing condition exemption and the ability to keep a child on your healthcare until 23.

10 RepliesYou know what the logic behind inflation is? To create a situation where people want to invest their money rather than have it sit in a box, because moving money is alive and the faster it moves the better the economy. I see nationalized healthcare the same way. You take some of that money sitting around in the rich's bank accounts, and you invest it in the working poor. Providing healthcare for the working poor should in the long-term increase productivity at the cost of money that wasn't doing anything in the first place. And if a company was willing to cut their employees hours to cut costs, they probably did it already. Most of the time companies like that only hire on the bare minimum they need, sometimes even less than they actually required to get the job done, and then try to squeeze more hours out of those that they have. So there probably aren't many hours for them to cut in the first place.

Everything the government runs they ruin, look at the fine job they have done with the education system. Amtrak is broke, USPS is broke, Medicare, Medical, Social Security is broke. Why are we trusting these people with our health when they exempt themselves and several large businesses?

1 ReplyIt kinda is terrible when the most logical solution would have been to eliminate age restrictions on Medicare and throw Medicaid into the trash bin. But the political reality was never going to allow for that. Obamacare has not been tried before to correct the health market failure in the US. It is not the Canadian system nor is it the British system.

The rich are getting richer and poor are getting poorer. The answer isn't in taking money away from the rich and giving it to the poor. Its like this, close our doors to international trade for a couple of years. Make people make buy and sell american made products. If we did this the economy would adjust ITSELF. Henry Fords motto was this. He wanted to make cars his employees could afford. Everyone who worked at ford drove a ford. It was for a reason. It built his brand which allowed him to pay his employees more. IF WE QUIT BEING LAZY ASSES AND STOP BUYING CHINESE GOODS MADE BY TWELVE YEAR OLDS FOR 2 DOLLARS A MONTH AND START MAKING THE SHIT OURSELVES THEN OUR ECONOMY WILL TURN AROUND!!!! Simple economics people.

My dad's medical spending account got cut in half ($5,000 to $2,500) and his tax withholding went up $100 the first paycheck of the year. So, his taxes are now sucking an extra $200/month or $2,400 a year and he only has half of what he have had in the past withheld for medical expenses.

So don't provide healthcare to workers who need it because corporations will punish the workers, and end up just preserving the untenable status quo. It's a classic rock versus a hard place and I get the feeling that if corporations are going to be dickish enough to punish their workers more, then we need to return the favor.
