Oh my -blam!-ing god.... there's a "fat acceptance"- movement. We seriously need a nuclear holocaust on this planet..
Being fat is being lazy. Trust me, I'm lazy

Even if that were true, why does it change anything? That doesn't make them any more likely to change just for shaming them like some indignant child.

and the point being?
That [shaming] doesn't make them any more likely to change
The point is rather obvious.

but that doesn't take away my right to frown upon it. And besides I refuse to believe that social pressure does nothing to fatness.

Edited by dr0cx: 1/29/2013 5:42:25 PMIt's true, you have every right to be a dick to anyone you wish to be a dick to, even if it means imposing your will on others (within the bounds of their legal rights). Just don't be surprised if you end up being a dick to the wrong fat person. Let's just call this what it is. If you think that you have a right to shame people for being fat, it doesn't matter if you erroneously think you are helping them. The reality is you are bullying them.

I'm not bullying anyone... calm down.. All I'm saying is that obesity is a serious problem and should not be embraced like some harmless habit..

Edited by dr0cx: 1/30/2013 2:05:41 PMWhen did anyone say it should be embraced like a harmless habit? This isn't a binary option, to shame them in hopes that negative reinforcement is actually a motivator or encourage obesity.

I'm glad you figured that out. At no point was I enforcing bullying them either.
And besides I refuse to believe that social pressure does nothing to fatness.
In the context of the OP article coupled with your quote, it seems that you are treading that thin line.

It is a bit poor choice of words now that I think of it..
