I found a potentially good PC Desktop for around $700.00. High end specs, but not a fancy covering or any personal decals. I also have a spare monitor that my friend gave for free and some speakers that are pretty good.
The $5,000+ is probably from accessories, which I could live without or I already own.

The 5000 he was talking about was mostly because he had something in the top 20's on this list. Seems like a waste of money for me.

Honestly BF3 isn't hard to max out. It looks just fine on Low settings too. My pc would have been close to $1000 but I already had a monitor, mouse, keyboard, case and a harddrive. So I saved some money on that stuff. I bought all of my stuff off of newegg. Just use the drop down menu and select the individual parts you need and filter the search results by "Best Rating". I'm using an AMD Phentom II 6 core processor and a 560Ti 2gb nvidia graphics card. You might be able to find that graphics card for $150 on newegg but I'm not sure if they still make it. I had to pay $250 for mine. (If you can find it for $150 buy it. That's stupid cheap!) I can run Skyrim max settings at about 30~50 fps, it's definitely the most taxing out of the games you listed. Just be sure when you pick your CPU that the motherboard has the right socket for it, and when upgrading be sure your power supply can support the new hardware. I had to upgrade mine recently when I upgraded graphics cards.

I prefer something to work for as cheap as possible without sacrificing quality.
