Being a humongous history buff, I can reasonably ascertain that if we didn't have a revolution in 1818 - 1830, nor a revolution in 1929 - 1933, the chances we will have a revolution due to outcry and consensus amongst the people that we're being screwed over is nil.
Seriously, a lot of people don't consider it now or just don't care but the amount of political extremism in the early 1930s was absolutely INSANE. For the 60s as well, for that matter.

What do you make of movements like Occupy Wallstreet? While I disagree with their overall message and the way they decided to organize themselves, there was no reason to use violence to remove them. When peaceful protests are not allowed what exactly are we supposed to do?

Calling out Occupy movements as peaceful and all responses to them violent is a massive simplification. Also, violent responses to protests are nothing new anywhere, even in the United States. Sometimes they fall out of favor, sometimes they don't.
