Dropship's comprehensive feedback thread

In the name of progress, I've decided to stop posting my views as comments or replies in other threads, and just group everything I'm thinking here. Naturally my views will differ from others', so let's not be asinine. Anything in bold is a constructive alteration to the way something works, while anything underlined is something that I feel desperately needs changing.
POSITIVES
• I adore the new homepage. Excellent design and really nice to look at and access things from. Great stuff. • The notifications system is a great addition and seems to work really well. Perhaps, instead of saying "XYZ replied to your post with 'blah blah blah'", have it say "XYZ replied to your post in 'thread123'". It makes tracking what's being replied to much easier. • Renaming groups and profiles is a nice touch, and handy for changing your profile or group to better suit its style. Dropship dude was so 2006. • Conversations, previously PMs. This has been on the mobile app for a long while now, but I'm glad to finally see it reach the full site. Great stuff. • The friends list is also another neat touch. • The ability to make groups more public, and share threads with others who aren't even members is brilliant. • Sorting threads by popularity, latest and debated and narrowing down a time frame is nice. However, I feel that the forum should save your selection for every time you visit the site. Clicking "Latest" by "All Time" every time I start the site up is something that, although small, isn't really needed. • General cleanliness of the layout. • Working search bar! • Semi-translucent navbar. Nice. • Linking of multiple accounts.
NEGATIVES
• Lack of post preview option. • Quotes don't include the name of who posted them by default. • Threads are no longer in chronological order. Threads should read from top to bottom, with the newest reply at the bottom. You don't read a book from bottom to top, and it just feels unnatural. This needs to be changed, or at least given as an optional setting. • Nesting replies away from the main thread detaches from the flow of a thread. Having to click individual posts' replies to see them makes browsing more tedious as everything's hidden from view if people are replying. Plus you have no idea what's actually being said before you click into it. You might click just to see someone saying "Yes." I'm not sure how I would change this. Perhaps just remove nesting altogether and have an "in response to XYZ" where XYZ is the username, which when clicked takes you to their original post. • Making comments bump to the top, destroying chronology, when they are replied to. • Lack of ability to visit two different "forums" at once in different threads, at least with the ease that BNet used to have. • Lack of thread title or group name in tab preview in browser. • General brightness of the central area of the page. I'm on a large, high-res monitor, so the majority of the screen is black. Having a large white area in the middle is a little harsh on the eyes. A darker scheme, akin to the grey we used to have, would be great. Having seen the new scripts changing that, I can say I definitely prefer it. Perhaps allow an option to change between a dark or light scheme? • Group titles are gone. Why'sat? • Activity feed items can't be "middle mouse button" clicked to open in a new tab. Now I might have missed something in either field, but I'll edit this in time as I remember. Feedback on my feedback is most welcome.

  • Very well constructed list. I agree with you on pretty much all of your points. I would also like to make the suggestion for having different BNext themes. The white was really hurting my eyes after a while. I applied a user made CSS sheet that made my forum screen black again. Maybe Bungie could make a few cool and different themes we could apply?

    • Agreed with almost everything here. I'd just add "color scheme" as a negative. Otherwise you've summed up my feelings pretty well. Lots of good things that are new, but there is most certainly room for improvement.
