No offense, but its pretty selfish to think that you have the power to do everything on your own. If everyone could do what they believed, we'd all be pretty damn well off. But most people who are successful are such because they believe in something bigger than themselves.

This didn't really make any sense, and I don't think that the OP was implying an entirely self-reliant lifestyle was preferable over a social one. Most people who are successful are such because they make good business decisions, by the way. To imply that the key to success is faith in a deity is just silly.

When I feel pain, I draw strength from my own willpower, not from faith in a higher power. How does that, in any way, affect how I care about other people?
