Oh, might I add. That Henry Rifle you have is a helluva' rifle with a helluva' round. That 45-70 Govt doesn't mess around. It was popular for Buffalo hunting.
That may have a bit of a kick to it. Hope you enjoy it.

That thing is a beast. We're just waiting for the weather to clear up a little before we fire it; the sun finally decided to show itself again today so we might be able to shoot it tomorrow.
-
Awesome! Enjoy your Henry, it's a piece of history even if it's a modern production Henry. Just remember that rifle design has been around since 1873.
-
Oh I know, my dad's really into older guns. He really likes the old Muskets, in fact he had two made for my brother and I as a gift and we've fired those a few times.
-
Also something I need to get around to doing. Have you guys considered picking up a Mosin Nagant or 20? It's one thing to own a gun that has a century old design, it's another to own a gun that may have actually been in war.

Edited by Bitty: 1/18/2013 3:41:23 AMNo, we haven't. Although I'd really like to own a gun from that time period. My favorite rifle from WW2 is the M1 Garand. I'd really like to get it or the modern M14. (Sorry for posting hours later, had to go to work lol)

It's cool, lol. The M1 Garand will run you around 800 dollars unless you are in the CMP or Civilian Marksmanship program. Then they will sell you surplus Garands for around 400 to 600. The civ varient of the M14 is the M1A by Springfield Armory. It's a beautiful rifle. You can get them in either .308 or 30-06. They run around 1800 to 2500 for a good one new. That is why I love the Mosin. Great Rifle, cheap (145 after taxes), cheap ammo, and it's fun to shoot. I love the M1A and I want one, I just can't afford it. :(
-
*whistles* I didn't know that the Mosin was so cheap, I'll talk to my dad and see what he thinks.
-
Yeah, mine was 98 dollars, then I had to pay Californian Dealer record of sale which is a 45 dollar fee. So, almost half of the cost of my rifle went into filing paperwork...
-
So much bullet drop, you have to aim it like an artillery piece for long ranges. :-P
-
Considering it's a .45 caliber slug with a flat head, I am not surprised. Probably performs much like a Solid slug from a shotgun.
-
From the way they aim those things in the movies it shouldn't be too difficult ;p I forgot to mention that it's a Golden Boy, that things octagon barrel is awesome.
-
The Goldenboys are beautiful. I'd love to get my hands on one for the right price. Hell, I'd settle for one in .22lr
