does armor in halo reach have any effect on gameplay???

The reason I am bringing this topic up is because i heard a rumor about the EVA helmet effecting head shots and so i tried it and got a ton of head shots and the recon helmet (base) apperently mutes your breath when running. soooo?

 • The day I am penalized or given advantages for how I dress up my spartan will be a sad day indeed.

 • Well, for free for all, you can change paint for camoflauge(dark green and brown is better than bright red and yellow). The bigger you are the slight more chance you have of being shot. The actual armor doesn't do anything, no special effects. But the poster a couple above me is right, the EVA is really easy to spot.(Because a big blue ball is really easy to find against grey or green)

 •
Posted by: kingofsmash1 In H3 it did. In Reach, it's the same hit box as any other armor piece.
That's not true. Helmet attachments actually expand the hitbox by a few centimeters, I've tested this. If you shoot the attachment with a sniper rifle, the player will die. If you shoot the same exact spot when the player has the same helmet but no attachment, the shot will not hit. [Edited on 03.30.2012 7:02 PM PDT]

 • Yes, the GRD helmet gives you host every single match.

 • Why yes it does. Armor effects do at least: Grunt Birthday Party - Upon detonation of the user's body, a loud cry saying "YAAAAAYYYYYY!" can be heard. This "yay" has a positive effect on your teammates. It then boost their moral and giving the a stronger thrive to win. They will then try their best plus 110%, giving your team an advantage. Heart Attack - The special effect is mainly used to seduce the opposite sex. This leaves the victim completely oblivious to their surroundings. Pestilence - This nasty effect could be used to impair you teammate's sight by letting the spores cloud his vision. Inclement Weather - This effect gives away your position while hiding in darker areas. Its dark stormy clouds can also be used in the same way Pestilence can. Red/Blue Flames - "The flames mean you go faster." So you see, armor effects can mean the difference between winning and losing! As for the armor, thats the stupidest question I ever heard! :) Id suggest using Grunt Birthday Party as it is the best. lol [Edited on 03.30.2012 5:30 PM PDT]

In it's own special way I'm, sure, but it will thanks you.
Its not necessarily a spelling issue. It is determining when to use a contraction in a way that means a state of being, or knowing when to use it in a possessive way.

 • actually despite any stupid probability assumptions like it gives you magic powers...or + 1 health...it does effect gameplay in reality if you have armor helmet effects like fire, thunder, the bug thing, your'e head is more likely to be spotted and possibly easier (of course only in games such as; team snipers, swat, or slayer dmrs , etc) your brain may feel this is an easier target to shoot(thinks of bigger), or a more complicated (thinks the face is hidden), therefore effecting your gameplay and how you move your thumbstick/cursor or ego/confidence in killing the other guy i believe this is a probable effect that armor may have, but only against the player equipping the armor so idk.

 •
Posted by: analbumcover It seemed to have more of an effect in Halo 3. Fishbowl helmets stuck out like a sore thumb and were just plain old easier to aim at. There are no inherent bonuses from any of the armor but occasionally the aesthetics can be useful.
You look like eric cartman -__-

 • Yes it does but only in making you more/less visible. Armor effects can give you away. And that one helmet that looks like a fish bowl, its easier to get headshots on Spartans with that (for me anyway) And color of course in Rumblepit [Edited on 03.30.2012 7:13 AM PDT]

 •
Posted by: The Son Of Goat Well, techincally yes, but it's not a huge difference. The EVA helmet might be more visible than others etc..and having different colours on your armor for free for all could also SLIGHTLY effect gameplay and the odds for visibility.
lolno

 • Nope. I've shot guys with the sniper, wondered why it didn't connect, looked back on Theater and its gone through their security shoulder, but not the flesh.
