So, yeah. That happened.
If you want to know how Bungie feels about SOPA, check out our official statement, delivered bravely by my fearless leader.
Feel free to discuss this issue. Let the debate rage in this thread, and ONLY in this thread. Be excellent to each other. The rules still apply. SOPA is more than a political issue. It's a phenomenon that would impact the industry in which we play, as well as the mediums we use to interact with you fine people.
Beyond this conversation, the laws that govern Bungie.net do not change. Political debate is not something that we want to see here. On this rarest of occasions, we are breaking our own rules. Such is the privilege of ruling the domain that you host.

[redacted] Im sad to see mega go but they will be back soon. And stronger than ever. This is just proof that the necessary stuff is in place. We don't need Sopa or PIPA [Edited on 01.24.2012 4:57 PM PST]

In fact, it's one of the best things to happen in a while. Why? The younger, online generation just found out that if they pay attention to politics, participate, and speak up about issues they disagree with, they can actually impact legislation.
Hey! Get off our back! Now, if you'll excuse me I have to go try on some skinny jeans while I complain about not having a job and listen to Dubstep.
I was being sincere. It's nice to see people playing an active role in their government.
SOPA is not a game it's serious business, if it isn't stopped then it's gonna mess up the entire internet, of course the younger generation are taking action because it actually matters unlike most political disputes.
I never said it was a game, and I totally agree that it is serious business. Do people not understand what I posted?

ACTA isn't a U.S. Amendment if you thought it was. It's a multilateral treaty between various countries, so in essence it would create a separate police body over the Internet and various other things. And it WILL screw things up just as much as SOPA and PIPA, if not more. India opposes it and even vows to sabotage it, I have to wonder if they truly will do anything or if it is simply a farce. Also, nobody seems to be noticing the new OPEN Act. Google and other giants support it, and as expected the entertainment industry opposes. We'll see how this plays out, though I'm cautiously optimistic.
Posted by: x Foman123 x Glad to see Bungie taking this position, but in the interests of my usual avoidance of political issues on the internet, I'll bow out here and just follow the discussion from all of you fine, intelligent, non-flaming, non-insulting, non-trolling folks. :-) *keeps eye on thread*
They're gonna censor only your posts

Until recently my Bio on XBox live contained a warning about this. Signing != ratification. Legislation like this will destroy all of the useful parts of the internet. This useful section doesn't include things like Facebook and other social media / surveillance sites. One of the more dangerous parts of this in my opinion is the creation of a "global intellectual property (IP)" police. Corporate influence needs to be removed from politics. The will of one person or a small small minority shouldn't hold any more value because they are wealthier.
