I believe in God. He has aided me multiple times throughout life. I used to not believe him, and even call people stupid who did. But I understand now why people choose to believe in him.
My person belief is that he is not truly benevolent. I don't believe in the Christian God, or at the very least, think that the Church has the wrong idea about him.
My personal belief is that he aids those who believe in him, however he does not punish non-believers. He simply does not aid them. He is not truly good as he will not give aid if he feels like it, but does not do it for amusement. He wants the world to live on it's own, and will only interact if he believes the person is worthy of his aid.
This is what I believe. It's impossible to disprove God, similar to how it is impossible to prove he exists, so arguing is futile. I don't really agree with the video, as I know God has personally aided me multiple times.

So basically the Holocaust and many other genocides done in his name were deserved? I don't understand the logic here.
-
No, he aided him, Hitler was a evil person not controlled by God, so it's not God's fault...

God is a supposedly omnipotent and omniscient being. If he exists, he allowed Hitler to do everything he did, despite being aware of it and having the power to stop him. Same goes for every other horrible thing that has ever happened. "Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?" - Epicurus
God is a supposedly omnipotent and omniscient being. If he exists, he allowed Hitler to do everything he did, despite being aware of it and having the power to stop him. Same goes for every other horrible thing that has ever happened.
Everything that happens had a purpose. If millions hadn't died due to a mad man manipulating and gaining power, would we have learned anything? Would you even remember what had happened? God does his best not to directly intervene in our world, because he gave us freedom and choice. We rebelled, we messed up, now we have these problems that we caused to deal with. He owes us nothing, yet he still helps and loves us. How could any human ever even try do the same as him?
-
Not controlled by God? That's not the point. You claim God has the power of direct intervention, yet it didn't stop some of the most heinous crimes of history such as the Holocaust and Holy Wars. Both atrocities committed in God's name.
-
You're the type of person who fails a test and blames God. "Durr why didn't I pass, oh yeah it was God's fault" Please.

Edited by Slothful Koala: 1/16/2013 2:31:00 PMDo not tell me what type of person I am. I am the only logical one here apparently. Your God, who is powerful enough to create everything in existence, willingly allowed the Holocaust and various other atrocities if God exists. Thankfully he does not, but even if you can prove it I have a moral issue with this being and so should you.

The way I see it if there is a god, which I do think there is I believe he simply lets us do everything ourselves. In other words if you pray for help he won't do anything but another person might actually end up compelled to help you. In other words people themselves carryout the gods will.

In what ways? Now I am actually curious to head this.

Hitler consistently claimed he was doing the work of God. The Holy Wars do not need any explanation as it was in direct relation to Religion.
