I think people forgot that video games are for FUN. Imo, the best mindset to improve video games is an improvement mindset... "Even though I will lose now, I will win later based on my efforts now." It naturally comforts you when you lose, as winning was never the goal. You feel more rewarded when you win, because it feels "earned". Don't play PVP if the only way you have fun is by winning. If you can't shift your mindset, then you are guaranteed to have an "unfun" game every time you lose.

  • Theres so many more games that are bearable when you know you're actively going to lose, Thats what makes Destiny and Especially Apex Fun for me, I Know Im Hot Garbage In Apex but ive gotten alot better, i enjoy the movement, the characters, the weapons, and just the challenge of having to survive knowing 50/50 im going to die in either top10, or top 50, and apex makes it very clear that every weapon is capable of causing you to flatline (pun intended) in less than two seconds Though i will admit its harder to get that same shot of dopamine with destiny 2 when not even the challenge is enough to keep most going. One thing i notice with some people chasing meta is that they seem to be looking for a gun to make the game fun for them and once that gun is replaced with something better its discarded quickly. And if that Gun Fails to do its job they easily give up. This is what i mean by repeating the same patterns actively makes the personal experience unfun if you're not trying to make it fun or interesting for yourself regardless of the outcome, you're going to have a terrible time. This also goes for pve content, people want it done quick fast in a hurry and the slightest bit of delay or setback is enough for everyone to quit regardless of being inches from that finish line. Its like both the players and bungie have forgotten how to have fun and make things enjoyable. And the players who get caught in the crossfire of both get stuck and left behind cause nobody actually wants to play the game anymore, we're just chasing what was lost. I don't even see people think "Hmm....can i speedrun this activity using this weapon?" Or "How well can i preform by setting the bar as high as possible whilst running the most terrible weapons possible" Nobody challenges themselves Anymore, in both PvP And PvE and our brains are practically screaming for something different whilst being unable to change.

  • Nothing wrong with using your best loadouts or "meta" loadouts. I pretty much always use my best loadout, and I have a blast. The important thing is that your fun is not solely dependent on winning games, because that mindset always leads to dissatisfaction.

  • True that, Fun should never be soley dependent on a very specific outcome or expectation, regardless of what you use and how you use it.
